Where to Find the Cheapest Laptops

C. Penlington
There are so many options available when it comes to purchasing your next/first laptop. I read an article about an Acer laptop that cost $499, and was originally $899 - and just to add to that, Walmart has an Acer available for $398 for those that would prefer to stay under $400.

Many people build their own computers - so you may want to ask around to see if someone may be willing to put one together for you, which would likely save a chunk of change. Schools sell computers that they no longer need - so it could pay off to make a few calls in your area to find out more information.

In terms of purchasing a laptop from Dell, and potentially saving the most money, you can go directly to: www.dellauctions.com
You could also go to www.craigslist.org and click on 'barter' where you could barter something of value that you no longer need for the laptop you need, that someone else no longer needs.

Alternatively, you can log on to: www.priceline.com and name your own price, or any of the other sites where you can name your own price.

There are good deals to be found at 'Fry's Electronics', and there may be other electronic stores that need to unload inventory - so calling around could pay off. A

Once you have your well-chosen laptop, take a look at www.notebookshop.com/product_info.php which has information about the best security for your system (they also sell laptops). They sell a security package called 'Anti-Cyber Crime' which usually sells for $97.50, however it is currently on sale through the 'Jeff Levy radio special' for $39.50 (today's date being sept. 14th) and here is a product description:

'Anti-CyberCrime is a web-enabled anti-malware application for all types of personal and business PC's. This application provides an exclusive patented hands off technology with policy management behavior. With this revolutionary technology it will provide a faster, better, and more reliable protection than older traditional malware applications. Protect yourself from attacks with a suite of security products including Anti-Identity Theft, Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware, while receiving up to the minute automatic updates and instant warnings. Just install it and forget it ! '

Also - if you think you need a new laptop because your current one has a broken screen - think again. As long as you are handy with a screwdriver, there's no need to replace the entire system. Click on the following link to educate yourself on just how simple and easy it is to repair your out-of-order laptop:
