Where to Find Cheats for ANY Game

James Kerley
Cheating in a videogame - nothing has caused more controversy, violence, or confusion (aside from a few wars). To cheat or not to cheat, that is the question. Of course, when you're trying to find some sort of key to get into the boss room, and you've already checked the entire castle a hundred times, and you've been playing for 15 hours straight and ready to either throw the PS2 out the window or take a shot of tequila (only if you're of age!) - then cheating starts to seem pretty reasonable.

Whether to cheat or not is an entirely engrossing conversation, so for now, let's just assume you're in one of those situations described above, and you're looking for a way out. The web offers a slew of options for the neurotic gamer. Raking through the hundreds of websites is a daunting task, and one that will simply eat up precious gaming time. G4 TV offers a daytime cheat show with games that came out months ago, and G4 is typically only offered to digital cable subscribers. So where do you go when the purple gem ring seems completely out of reach?

GameFAQs, a product of Gamespot's wild success, is a one-stop shop for all your cheat needs. It's easy, go to the site, bookmark it, and breath easy - that giant venus fly trap boss is as good as dead. Check it regularly, as the top ten most viewed and most requested FAQ pages are updated regularly. The FAQ pages aren't just comprised of questions about the games, they contain the most thorough walkthroughs you'll find anywhere, and cheat postings are clearly marked. The content at GameFaqs is more diverse and more relevant than almost any official strategy guide.

The best part is that, like some other very wonderful web publishing sites, GameFAQs pages are made by users. These are users who have actually played through the game, done all the extra-curricular research, and wasted money on the strategy guys. All the work is done for you, just search for your game, click the link, and you're there. Easy to use, fast, and best of all - full of information. Because there are gamers out there that somehow have the time to beat the game and write a walkthrough the day it comes out, there's never a wait to get cheat sheets. And the archives cover just about every game ever produced, dating back to the Atari.

Whether or not you believe in cheating in a game is irrelevant, because we've all done it. Some may not be too happy about what they've done, but it's a fact of life. Kind of like eating milk duds, they're really bad for your teeth and pull out fillings, but damn they taste good while they're in your mouth. When you finally get to that point, where the choices include violence or looking up the secret on GameFAQs, make the right decision - and go outside for a minute to clear your mind, I promise the sun won't hurt you.

Now that you have the tools

Super Maro Bros. 2 was originally a completely different game, but was adapted when Nintendo officals though the real Mario 2 was too difficult for American gamers.

Okay, with this one, I am going to send a link to my sister so she can do this for my nephews. They have been trying and trying to get to a certain level in their Hot Wheels game. Thanks for this!
