Christmas tree snobs are those people who disdain artificial Christmas trees and prefer to journey to the woods and Christmas tree farms to find the perfect live family Christmas tree. In central Indiana, there are several great choices of family owned Christmas tree lots and farms that can provide you with fresh, affordable locally grown Christmas trees.

In Delaware County, just north east of Indianapolis, The Branch Ranch Family Christmas tree farm opens up the first weekend after Thanksgiving on Saturdays from 10 to 4 and Sundays from no one to 4. They offer Scotch Pine, White Pine and Fraser Fir trees from 4 to 11 feet tall. Address 6604 W. Timbercrest Lane, Muncie IN Email:bobbeavers@comcast.net.

At the Millbrook Christmas tree farm in Yorktown, just north east of Indianapolis in Delaware County, you can choose and cut your own tree as well as purchase greenery, premade wreaths, pine cones and garlands. They also will take your tree back after Christmas and recycle it. Types of trees offered at Millbrook include Scotch Pine, White Pine, Fraser Fir, Spruce and Cannan Fir. Call 765-378-6448 for prices on specific trees and directions to the farm. They open November 26 to December 21 from 3-6 Monday -Friday, and Saturday and Sunday 9-6.

Hamilton County, just north of Indianapolis, is packed with some wonderful family Christmas tree farms where you can purchase pre-cut trees or cut your own. Here are three of the top Christmas tree farms in Hamilton County.

Mannix Farms has been a family run Christmas tree farm for many years but this year they will be selling their trees at Spencer U Pick farms. They grow Canann Fir, White Fir, Douglas Fir, Scotch Pine, White Pine and Blue Spruce. Check out Spencer's website to find their prices and hours of operation.

The Piney Acres Chrismas tree farm website, complete with Christmas music, is packed with great information about their farm where you can not only choose and cut your tree, or buy one precut, but you can also visit their gift shop, ornament shops, and visit with Santa Claus. Piney Acres is located in Fortville and a trip there is a fun way to recapture the old feeling of going out into the woods to find the perfect tree.

Stonycreek Farm has long been a favorite for finding the family Christmas tree, with it's rolling hills, wagon rides that take you out to the woods for choose and cut the perfect tree. Just north of Indianapolis, it opens November 17th through the Sunday before Christmas. Check out their website for hours and contact information.

Lost Tree Forty Acre Farm has some of the most affordable choose and cut trees beginning at $30.00. Their brief website has just enough information to give you the important facts about hours of operation and how to find your way to the east side of Indianapolis in Greenfield.

Just south of Indianapolis in the Rushville area, you can visit the Clearview Family Christmas tree farm that has been in the family for 100 years. On the first weekend in December they host a craft and artisan fair which features craft demonstrations and tours of the family farm.
Jay's Christmas Tree farm offers a full service choose and cut your own tree on over 20 acres of Christmas tree. Like most of the Christmas tree farms they open the first weekend after Thanksgiving Day and close the first Sunday before Christmas. Their website gives hours of operation and contact and address information.Located in Mooresville just southwest of Indianapolis.
