If you live in the Red Mill area, you will find a store at Red Mill Commons, 1157 Nimmo Parkway. It's quite a large outdoor mall, with a Walmart and and many new specialty shops.
Pembroke Mall, at the intersection of Independence and Virginia Beach Blvd, has one inside the mall. The closest entrance to the store, is right between Kelly"s Tavern, and China Buffet, both have good food if your hungry.
Your Dollar Store for the Princess Anne area , would be the Parkway Shopping Center. It is a small strip mall located at 1949 Lynnhaven Parkway. There is also an AJ Wrights, where you can find some pretty nice bargains on name brand clothes.
For all of you in the Hilltop area, Regency Hilltop Dollar Store, at 1952 Laskin Rd (right by Captain Georges Seafood) is the place for you. a fairly new Ollies Outlet, is just a few doors down, and they offer a wide variety of good deals.
Lynnhaven North Shopping Center, 2720 North Mall Drive, has your dollar store, and it's just across the the parking lot from Lynnhaven Mall.
For those of you in the Dam Neck area, is a different kind of dollar store, Baba Dollar at at 1630 General Booth Blvd, is similar to dollar tree, but they also have some items that are not a dollar. There is also a K-Mart there if you can't find what your looking for.
Now if your lucky enough to live right in the middle, or you don't mind the drive, the 39er Store at 3756 Virginia Beach Blvd, is for you. there they have Hallmark and other name brand specialty, and holiday cards for just 39 cents. They carry packages of invitations for that special holiday party, only 89 cents, and a variety of of seasonal and party themed items. 39er's also carry unique novelty gifts, at a reasonable price and if you don't see what you are looking for, just ask the owner Sam. He will try to get what you want. There is an A C Moore Crafts a few steps away if your in the mood to make your own cards.
Now , last but not least, if your like me, and can barely stretch the budget for cards, let alone the cost of postage, GO FREE. The internet has a has so many site where you can send that special Holiday Greeting to your loved one with an e-mail. a few of the ones I use are, www.MyFunCards.com, www.BlueMountain.com, and www.123greetings, has a variety of animated cards also.
As a grandmother, and now great grandmother, and as the size of my family grows, so does the cost of living. It gets harder every year to get what you want for your Holiday Celebration. Keep things simple. With a little help from these wonderful stores, a little imagination, and by keeping in mind what Christmas is really all about, you can have a wonderful Holiday, without falling into the grasps of commercialism.
