When in Chicago you must visit the museums and art exhibits. There are so many scattered throughout Chicago it would be hard to miss them.
The Smart Museum of Art is just one of the many and it is always free as well as at The Oriental Institute Museum. They do however take donations and giving them $5.00 helps them and still keeps your day cheap and full of great entertainment.
The Chicago History Museum is open to the public and free on Mondays. It is filled with all types of memorabilia and photo's that tell about the history of Chicago.
If you are bringing children along with you on your vacation to Chicago, be sure to check out the Chicago's Children's Museum. Kraft hosts a free night for kids on Thursday from 5 to 8pm.
The place to go for science fanatics is the Museum of Science and Industry. These museums tickets are a little pricier at $13.00 per adult, but worth every penny. There is so much to see that it takes hours to get through, just to want to turn around and see it all again.
Of course the Lincoln Park Zoo is always free and open to the public. There is so much to do and see at the zoo you might want to make a day of it. There is however a parking charge if you plan on spending more than half an hour in the zoo. The rates are not bad though, for 3 hours it is $14.00.
If you are into flea market finds and yard sale items the best place to visit in Chicago is the Maxwell Street Market. It runs each Sunday from 7am to 3pm and has more booths open than one can count. I have seen everything from foods to shoes being sold here. There is always jazz music pumping through the street and it is just a great experience to visit.
The Navy Pier has great attractions and offers a package deal that includes accommodations. For a great price of $135.00 you can take advantage of their deal with a room at the Four Points by Sheraton. The package also comes with a discount booklet that has deals and coupons to use on your vacation. If that wasn't enough it also has 2 free tickets to ride the Ferris wheel at the Navy Pier.

I love to read and even more love to write. If there is something to learn out there I am up to my elbows in it. Researching just about everything is only one of my many interests. View profile
