My own Yahoo! Contributor Network article How to Make Paper Snowflakes is a great snow day activity. My kids enjoy sitting on my living room floor or at the kitchen table and cutting out paper snowflakes to use as decorations around our house. When we want to get a little more festive, we add some glitter glue to decorate the snowflakes then hang them from the ceiling or tape them to the windows.
Kaboose
Kaboose.com always has great craft ideas to offer. This site offers instructions for easy crafts for all ages that will help pass the time and make for fun play. From finger puppets to assorted winter decorations (think snow man!) this site has a lot to choose from. Most of the crafts use simple craft supplies and household items you probably already have, which makes it great for an unexpected snow day when the kids are stuck in the house.
DLTK
The DLTK.com website has always been a favorite of mine for easy paper crafts and printable games and activities. It can't be overlooked for quick crafts for a winter day. Most of the activities and crafts are printable and require very few (if any) additional craft supplies, which makes it a great site for spontaneous fun.
All Kids Network
The allkidsnetwork.com site has a number of cute and easy winter crafts. From snow men to penguins to snow measuring sticks, you'll find a variety here. Most of these crafts do require additional craft supplies so planning ahead or just keeping general supplies on hand at all times would be necessary.
FamilyFun
Disney's FamilyFun magazine is one of my favorites and the website features a number of cold weather crafts for all ages. Most of the crafts from FamilyFun are easy and cheap to make and don't require a lot of additional supplies.
Enchanted Learning
Enchantedlearning.com has a variety of winter crafts. Many of the crafts featured are geared specifically to Christmas, but there are still plenty that are just general winter crafts.
