Where to Find Farmers Markets in Lincoln, Nebraska

A 2009 Guide

Kristen Anne Harvey
Spring is here and summer is on its way. Soon we will be enjoying the first harvest of fruits and vegetables planted this spring. With supermarket prices going higher and higher, some folks have been skimping on getting their five fruits and veggies a day. Buying farm fresh fruits and veggies at reasonable prices will help your wallet and support your neighbors' families.

In Lincoln the local farmers will be out from May to October for you to choose your pick of great farm fresh fruits and veggies. Here is a listing of the Farmer's Markets found around town on every day of the week.

Tuesday

The Mid-Week Haymarket Farmers Market will be held at the UNL campus (12th & R). This Market is open in the evenings at 5pm until about 7pm. Stick around afterward in June for Jazz in June. Local jazz bands will be playing every Tuesday in June at 7pm.

Wednesday

The Havelock Farmers Market is held at 61st and Havelock in Lincoln. It is open from 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm from May through October.

The Community CROPS Farmers' Market starts a little later. In 2009 it will run from June 4 to September 24. It will be open 4:30-7:30pm at Pentzer Park (2 blocks north of 27th and Holdrege).
