Where to Find Free Movies for Kids

C. Jeanne Heida
If you are watching your money like our family, non essentials such as going to the movies, cable TV, or amusement parks have disappeared from the family budget. While us adults can handle spartan living for a while, it's our kids that often feel the pinch of having to doing without.

One fun way to keep a little fun in your kid's day is with free movies. Here are some great resources to explore that have free movies for kids (and even the parents).

1. Watch-free-movies-online-now.com is a no-membership-required site with a portal to Hula and other movie sites containing free kids movies. Especially nice is how the movies are broken down by genre (including kids) with a listing and synopsis of available online movies.

2. Free Family Film Festivals. The Regal Entertainment Group makes it a summer tradition to show select G or PG movies at 10:00 am every Tuesday and Wednesday during the run of the festival. We used attend the Summer Film Festival with our kids when they were young, and the event was always a treat. Keep in mind that tickets and seating are first-come, first-served so get there early! For information, visit the Regmovies.com/nowshowing/familyfilmfestivalschedule.aspx

3. Public Library. Your local public library also has a great selection of free movies that can be checked out. While at the library, grab a hold of their summer event planner to learn more about the library summer movie schedule which is free to kids.

4. Net Flix. While Net Flix isn't free, opening a free membership on their site means that you'll receive coupons (at least 1-2 a month) for a free movie rental. This is a great option for hosting a free kids movie night at home.

5. Rounding up the list of free movie resources for kids is a fun little site called Fivecentnickle.com. This link shows the 2009 edition, however most of the links to these free movie events are still active.

As you can see, just because you're watching the budget in 2011 doesn't mean that going to the movies will be out of the question. Tapping into these free movie resources for kids means Hollywood fun at a price that's hard to beat.
