Ghost Walks and Haunted Tours are a fun way to learn about local legend and lore, as well as historic buildings and families in your area. If you have never attended a Ghost Walk or Haunted Tour, you may just want to schedule one in to your list of planned events this year. Although some Ghost Walks and Haunted Tours are conducted strictly around Halloween, many extend their presentation schedules to include the Summer and beyond. New York state has an array of Ghost Walks and Haunted Tours available in several different cities and regions, so if you think you are brave enough to attend, read on for the information you need to find a Ghost Walk or Haunted Tour in your area!

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK

There are a multitude of Ghost Walks and tours available in New York City! Ghost of New York, a haunted tour company, offers five different Ghost Walks, led by licensed tour guides. Ghost Walk choices include one in the East Village based on the theme of Edgar Allen Poe, and Ghosts of Greenwich Village which focuses on Mark Twain and Eleanor Roosevelt, among others. A third choice with this company is a tour called Ghosts of the City, which claims to take participants in search of the spirits of Algonquin Indians, black slaves, and Dutch settlers. Finally, this company also offers Ghost Walks based on the ghosts of Times Square, as well as a tour designed to include ghost stories appropriate for children of all ages. ROCHESTER, NEW YORK

Rochester Candelight Ghost Walks is a company that prides itself on centering it's Ghost Walks on real reported ghost acitvity as well as researched and documented history in Rochester. The Ghost Walk is led by paranormal researchers, and although their website does not currently list it's Ghost Walk schedule, a phone number is listed, so call 1-585-259-6175 for more information.

BUFFALO, NEW YORK

Mason Winfield offers several Ghost Walks in the Allentown area of Buffalo. These 90 minute Ghost Walks are approximately one mile long, and offers an up close look at this historic village. As you walk, you will be hear about the history, architecture, mysteries, and folklore of the area and it's buildings. And of course, you'll hear all about the local ghosts! LEWISTON, NEW YORK

The website historiclewiston.org includes in it's schedule of events for 2007, a series of Haunted History Ghost Walks which will run from May 12th through October 26th. Visit the website for contact information in order to get details for where the Ghost Walks meet, and at what time.

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK

The Onondaga Historical Association presented Ghost Walks in Syracuse during 2005 and 2006. Find contact information at ohamakinghistory.wordpress.com in order to obtain details for events scheduled in 2007.
