Where Do You Find Good Museums in Texarkana, Texas?
Educational Fun in Our Local Texarkana Environment
Texarkana, TX 75504
United States of America
As you drive into the old part of town in Texarkana, where the Arkansas and Texas state lines meet, you'll see historic old buildings. You'll also come across something interesting if you keep your eyes open and explore a little bit. There are some wonderful museums located in that area in the neighborhoods near the historic post office.
If you have either older family visiting or young children who can only stand a short amount of exploring, these museums are perfect for an entertaining afternoon. While they are small museums, they are also rich in content. They offer educational, interesting displays that are just big enough to keep you and your guests satisfied, but not so big that you would tire of trying to take it all in.
The prices are budget-friendly at less than $5 per person. Certain ages are allowed to partake for free. The money is well spent for educational value and nice for a mini adventure to add to the memory books. Although there is a soda machine outside one of the museums, there are no snack machines. However, the visits to each museum are short enough so that you can both snack before or after each visit and remain satisfied during the visits. Nearby fast food restaurants help keep this issue from being a problem as well. There are also places to sit outside during pleasant weather should you decide to bring a picnic or sack lunch or snacks. Plus, the businesses offer rest rooms, which make it a relief for visitors.
The Museum of Regional History and the Discovery Place Museums are located off State Line Avenue and Third Street. Close to these is the wonderful Ace of Clubs House located off Pine and Fourth Streets. If you'd like to arrange for even more fun for the little adventurers in your group, there is a wonderful playground located near the library close to the same area of town!
These museums are great for anyone who is home schooling their child or children because of the history of the Regional History Museum and the hands-on exhibits of the Discovery Place Museum. The prices help keep a trip to these places affordable and help keep the museums in operation. Volunteers help operate the establishments, which also keeps the prices low and help them remain open for the public.
Whether you live in the area and have just never considered these museums or you are new to the area and have no idea what to do for interesting and educational fun, you should definitely consider trying these Texarkana museums. Give the local efforts their due and help them make their hard work and investments worthwhile.
Museums in areas such as Texarkana can be overlooked and under-appreciated. Sometimes people fail to see the beauty of what is right under their noses. Shopping has become more of a recreation in general than visiting museums! So, help keep these valuable additions to our culture and days-of-old alive by giving them some of your time and attention. The few dollars spent will make memories worth a lifetime!

Post a CommentI've lived in Texarkana, for many years. I haven't been to these museums, in a long time. You've made me think about them, again. Thanks for the info.
