Kids will find four different groundhog pictures, including a cute animal picture that will be ideal for little kids to color, a groundhog reading the newspaper, one where the cute animal is looking around, and one of where he sees his shadow ("oh no!").

ABCTeach.com has a number of writing and spelling activities with a holiday theme. The free educational coloring and activity pages are in PDF format. You will need a free copy of Adobe Acrobat to read the pages.

There is a holiday word search, vocabulary sheets with Groundhogs, and holiday themed writing paper for writing sentences and reports.

Even though the pictures are in color on the web site, when you click on each one it is not in color. Each picture is a black outline of a groundhog in a different situation.

G is for Groundhogs at First-School.ws

First-School.ws has some fun and free coloring pages focusing on the letter "g" and the early February holiday. Simply click and print. For older school children there is also a holiday word search and printable lined paper.

This site has free printable resources for kids who are learning to write the letter "g."

Punxsutawney Phil's Activities for Kids at Groundhog.org

One of the most famous groundhogs, Punxsutawney Phi has some fun word searches and even some math for kids at his site. This is the official site of the Punxsutawney Groundhog club.

Shadow or Not? Apples4theTeacher.com

There are two free printable coloring pages here. In one picture he sees his shadow which scares him and that gives us six more weeks of winter. In the other free coloring picture he is wearing sunglasses. He does not see his shadow and we can enjoy the sunshine soon. Pick the one you like the best, or the one that matches what happens on the holiday. Or, just print both free coloring pages.

Kids color the picture online if Adobe Flashplayer is installed. If you don't have Adobe Flashplayer it can be downloaded for free at Adobe.com (Kids, please ask your parents before downloading anything)

The groundhog did not see his shadow in 2007, 1999, 1997, 1995, 1990, 1988, 1986, 1983, 1975 or 1970 according to Stormfax.com. In all the years in between, he did see his shadow.
