With the downturn of the economy, it's no surprise that more and more people are without jobs and looking for work all across the country. The unemployment rates here in Mid-Missouri are no different than the rest of the country, and with that higher rate of unemployment come higher rates of people looking for jobs. If it's been a while since you've had to look for a job and are unsure of where to get started, try some of these online options for job seekers.

1) ColumbiaTribune.com
The daily Columbia newspaper comes not only in print, but online, as well. If you're looking for a job in Columbia or surrounding Mid-Missouri towns, including Jefferson City, this is a great tool to use. It covers jobs in many different areas in and around Columbia, Missouri.

2) NewsTribune.com The Jefferson City News Tribune is another great online option to find localize job postings. If you're in Jefferson City or surrounding cities, including Columbia, it's worth taking a look at the Jefferson City newspaper. While this newspaper doesn't have as many job postings for communities around the capital city as Columbia does, it's rich with employment opportunities specific to Jefferson City.

3) MissouriCareerSource.com Missouri Career Source is tied in with the Boone County unemployment agency. It offers a way to upload your resume so that employers can find you, as well as searching for jobs. It's very interactive and tells you if you do or do not quality for a certain jobs. It includes job postings for Columbia and the surrounding areas and is fairly easy to navigate.

4) Snag-A-Job.com Snag-A-Job.com is a job-seeking website that is based on a national level, but you can search through it for jobs in your region just by typing in your zip code, and it will bring up jobs and employers in the Columbia area -- or whichever zip code you put in. Some employers allow you to apply through the Snag-A-Job website while others require other methods of applying.

5) Monster.com Monster.com is another website that has jobs all across the country, but is easy enough to find jobs here in the Mid-Missouri area. Quite similar to Snag-A-Job, if you type in your local zip code, it will pull up a list of Mid-Missouri job postings. One downfall to Monster.com is that, because it's so nationally recognized, there is more that you may have to sift through to get to the actual localized jobs in the Mid-Missouri area.
