Where to Find a Leg Warmer Crochet Pattern for Dogs
Make Homemade Dog Leg Warmers with a Free Crochet Pattern
I have had several dogs as pets in my life and have tried to dress them like some pet owners do with their dogs. The dogs I have had would not have anything to do with wearing clothes.
The first sheltie I had definitely did not want anything to do with wearing anything that would keep her dry on rainy days. Even as much as she hated going outside getting wet, she would rather stay inside than to have doggie shoes or leg warmers on than to go out and do her business and stay dry. This would include cold snowy days.
At a whopping 13 pounds, Foxy Lady would become a small sack of potatoes when my daughter or I would even attempt to dress her to go out on either type of days I mentioned.
My second sheltie, Katie, is just as finicky as Foxy Lady was with wearing dog clothes. Katie is three times as large as Foxy was and can get that dead weight thing going even better than her predecessor. If we do manage to get anything on her like these leg warmers, Katie will tug and pull until she gets anything like this off.
As you can see, I cannot dress my dog in any of these cute items like the leg warmers listed at the end of this article. For those of you who can get your dog dressed in a fashionable style, the leg warmers would be a perfect fit for those breeds of dogs, like our smaller sheltie, who hates the cold when having to go outside to take care of business.
Poshpoochdesignsdogclothes.blogspot.com has a crochet pattern for a set of doggie leg warmers. Sara, the site's owner, provides instructions and photos of the leg warmers she made for her Chihuahuas; at least that's what her two dog models look like to me.
Sara's doggy leg warmers are easy enough to make since they use two types of crochet stitches; a chain and a single crochet. She makes the leg warmers for the front legs of her dogs. Since her pattern requires the maker to measure the front legs of their dogs, these leg warmers can be made for any size and breed of dog.
The doggie leg warmers would be a great way to learn how to crochet since they use two simple crochet stitches. Even if you do not have a dog, you make them and give them to someone you know who does as a gift.
