Where to Find Modest Clothes for Your Daughter

Most mothers want only the best for their daughters. We want them to grow up to live good, productive lives, and we strive to help them be the best they can be. For many of us, that means our daughters will live pure, moral Christian lives.

But it can seem like everything today works against us. And even mothers who want the best for their daughters still tend to follow the trends of "what's popular" when dressing their little girls.

A walk through your local department store will show you what is trendy. Everything is designed to make even your littlest girl look like a rock star. Stop and think: is this the life you want for your daughter?

We have all seen the teen stars, the Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus of today. Exuding fresh faced innocence, they hit the television and movies and rock world with all kinds of promise. So very young, we are just sure they will make it. Sometimes they even seem to have parents who will back them and take care of them.

But time shows that most of these young star end up living a wreck of a life. It doesn't take long before alcohol, drugs, ruined relationships, usually with children involved, trail behind them. It's a sad, lost life.

So, why would a sane parent want their children to imitate these women? Why would we dress our little girls like them and buy our daughters their music so they can admire them?

But what alternative is there, at least in dress? It's very hard to find modest clothes today. What we find are tight "skinny" jeans, tight tops, low necklines, t shirts with immodest words on them, and words across the fanny of even the tiniest girl, which draws everyone's attention to that area.

As a mother of young girls, I refuse to dress my children in a way that will start them on the path to impurity. It was hard in the beginning, but I found some sources online for modest dress for both young girls and their mothers, and I would love to share those places with you.

They sell maternity clothes, aprons, and head coverings. They have quilts, dolls and many other things. They have always gone the extra mile when I order from them.

Another good place to buy modest clothes is Gehman's Country Fabrics and More at http://www.gehmanscountryfabrics.com/ Gehman's sells beautiful fabrics as well as dresses, slips, sweaters, and even Christian CD's and books.

While I haven't actually bought clothes at Christian Coverings at http://www.christiancoverings.com/ , I have bought head coverings, and they are very well made. I expect that any dresses you would buy there would be the same quality. Christian Coverings also sell patterns, embroideries and accessories.

Tznius at http://www.tznius.com/ is a Jewish website that sells beautiful head coverings and also modest clothes. I've bought both clothes and coverings from Tznius, and have always been pleased with the quality of the things I've bought.

I like Land's End at http://www.landsend.com/ not as much for their dresses, which are usually shorter than I like my daughters to wear, but for the leggings. In the beginning I bought bloomers for my younger girls, but soon found I liked leggings better, especially the Capri length ones. Since they fit the legs tighter, they are less likely to show under my little daughters clothes. And if the child's dress does happen to blow up, the leggings look less like underwear than the bloomers. They are very useful for keeping legs warm under dresses in the winter. I buy lots of leggings for myself, as well as my children.

Dressing your daughter modestly doesn't have to be a hard thing. There are nice, modest clothes out there to buy for yourself and your child that are pretty. I get compliments on my girls often, and the word I hear most to describe them is "refreshing". A child who is dressed modestly, with a little training, will usually act modest too, in their words and actions.
