Local Masjids; places of prostration, are continuously popping up left and right. Some are establish specifically for the language of a group of people, and others are established to serve the communities in various parts of the Sacramento Valley.
In the Northern area of Sacramento, The Sacramento Area League of Associated Muslims was established back in 1987. Many Muslims gathered for Friday Prayers, Community Events, and Even Adult education Courses at the community Center Developed for the Islamic School. However, if you drive by SALAM now, you will find a fantasist construction project under way.
SALAM Islamic Center is one of the first Masjids in the area to establish a school before a prayer hall. Previously prayers were conducted in a trailer in front of the community center; never the less by the end of 2009 they may have a completed Mosque with a traditional Islamic Dome right here in Sacramento.
Salam is an Arabic word, derived from the Arabic root letters S, L. and M, when combined and used in any word have a meaning of peace, or a source of peace, just like the word Islam, or the greet Asalaamu Alaikum. Meaning, May the peace of God be upon you.
SALAM Islamic Center is located on of Madison Avenue, directly across the street from American River College.
4541 College Oak Dr, Sacramento, CA 95841

In the Southern part of Sacramento you will find an Established Islamic Center by the name of Masjid Annur. In 1984 it started, as a simple house where Muslims gathered to pray, but is now one of Sacramento's largest, and most established Islamic Centers; with a full time school that serves students grades K-9th grade.
Annur or Nur, means light. Light specifically that angels were created from.
Masjid Annur is located at 6990 65th St. - Sacramento, CA 95823

Further south you can finally a new established community. The Elk Grove Masjid, Masjid Al Tawheed is located at 9011 Elk Grove Florin Rd., Elk Grove, CA 95624, USA
Tawheed means Unity or Oneness of Allah's (God) existence. He is one, not three in one, or apart of a Trinity. But the father of all mankind, that is like no other, and none can be compared to him, nor is any other worthy of worship. Yes, all that means Tawheed. When translating a word from one language to another, you often loose great meaning. It does not simply mean One, or Unity, but encompasses all that was mentioned above.
The first Masjid to be established in Sacramento, back in 1947; downtown you can find a small and modest but very friendly Masjid where prayer services are given in Urdu, and they have a full time weekend school to offer its students.
Downtown, V Street Muslim Mosque is located at
411 V Street, Sacramento, CA 95818.

Even a bit further up highway 80 towards Reno, in the Roseville area of Sacramento you can find the Islamic Society of Placer County. And they have established The Roseville Mosque. They are temporarily renting space at a Sikh Temple.
It is a more recent established Islamic Center located at
201 Berkeley Ave, Suite F Roseville, Ca 95678

It is really nice to see the strides the Muslims in Sacramento have made in Interfaith Networking with the Christians, Jews, Sikhs, and those of other faiths, to come to know one another and have basic knowledge of the faiths of others.
On the East Side of Sacramento you will find a beautiful community that is also under going construction of one of Sacramento's Newly built Mosques at the Folsom Masjid.
The Folsom Masjid also known as Masjid Bilal will soon have a newly constructed Mosque that has been given city approval to make its call to pray in a traditional minaret that tower high above. It will definitely be a great mosque to visit, and has been given a name to match. Bilal was a slave during the time of Prophet Muhammad given the honor of calling the Muslims to prayer five times a day.
Racism was still very rampant and the people complained. So Bilal did not call the people to prayer, and the sun refused to rise. Finally the people acknowledged their ignorance and disobedience to Allah, and they begged Bilal to continue.
Folsom Masjid also has a full time school, so far with about 60 students in grades K-4th grade.
Folsom Masjid is located at
13405 Folsom Blvd, Suite 600, Folsom, CA 95630

There are many other Masjids in the Sacramento area that are successfully growing, including the Davis, Woodland, Lodi, Stockton areas, each with the mission to serve its community. The Masjids provide prayer services, cleaning and burial ceremonies, full time and weekend schools, and even special family night events, and traditional Eid celebrations.
Pleas contact one of the Masjids for a visit today, that would love to have you stop by for a visit.
