At Dr. Paget's office, patients as young as one year get introduced to dentist visits. He educates parents on the importance of teaching good dental habits at an early age, advises about fluoride supplements, counsels on when to wean children from bottles, and teaches how to prevent severe decay patterns. Children become comfortable with the doctor and staff, and anxiety levels lower. Dr. Paget and staff are trained to treat and handle behavioral challenges.

He believes regular dental check-ups started in childhood set foundations for lifetime dental health. He diagnoses bite problems and forecasts other potential problems.

Dr. Paget states that medically compromised patients - cardiac problems and seizures for example, are often referred to him, as are referrals for special needs children.

When asked for a quote, Dr. Paget said: "Be aware that the sippy cup is not meant to be a pacifier". He recommends children have water only, not sweetened beverages, one half-hour before naps or bedtime. Going to sleep with clean teeth is the best way to prevent cavities.
