Where to Find Quality Hand Blown Glass Christmas Ornaments

Megan Butler
One of the things that I remember most vividly from my childhood is the hand-blown Christmas ornaments on our Christmas tree. My mother had a passion for beautiful ornaments and we always had the biggest, most exquisitely decorated tree on the block. And now that I have my own family, I have started my own collection of hand-blown Christmas ornaments so that my children can enjoy Christmas as much as I did. But unlike my mother, I have been able to find most of my hand-blown Christmas ornaments from the comfort of my living room.

www.christmasattic.com

This is one of my favorite e-tailers for hand blown glass ornaments. They are known for their extensive Christopher Radko collection, but they also carry high quality Americana, German, Wee Forest Folk, and Wilhelm Schweizer Christmas Ornaments. But perhaps the best thing about Christmas Attic is that their wide selection makes this a great place to buy gifts to fit any budget!

www.ebay.com

You probably know that ebay has everything, but did you know that they carry hand-blown glass ornaments as well? Ebay is great for finding hard to find artists and manufacturers, as well as one-of-a-kind pieces that you just can't find anywhere else. However, remember to start looking early in the year. If you wait until too close to the Christmas season, the bidding can get pretty aggressive and you may end up paying much more than those one of a kind pieces are worth.

www.christmasatthelake.com

Christmas at the Lake carries beautifully detailed hand-blown glass ornaments that are nearly impossible to find elsewhere. They are very reasonably priced, and they are also one of the few places where you can find hand-blown glass ornaments for theme trees. They have sports, nature, food, and many other themes to complement any tree or tastes. This is a great place for the collector!

www.christmasgiftgallery.com

The Christmas Gift Gallery claims to have the widest and best selection of Christmas Ornaments around. And after you spend a few hours browsing their site, you'll have trouble disagreeing. I like this site because they carry many high end European pieces that are hard to find elsewhere like Inge Glass and Polonaise. Furthermore, if you can't find what you're looking for on the site, they will try to locate it for you and special order it!

These are two of my favorite hand-blown Christmas ornament designers. These masters create exquisite designs that are pricey, but a must for any collection.

www.jaystrongwater.com

If you are an avid collector of fine hand-blown Christmas, you already know who Jay Strongwater is. His exquisite, jewel encrusted pieces are world famous (and also some of the most expensive around: they start at around $100 and go up from there). If you've never seen any of his work, check out the site. But, if possible, I highly recommend seeing them in person at your local department store. Pictures just don't do these works of art justice.

www.sarabellacreations.com

Sarabella makes beautiful, hand-blown glass ball ornaments. These ornaments are carried by most high end departments stores (think Bergdorg Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Harrods). These delicate looking pieces are a favorite among celebrities. However, they're most well known for their hand-blown twelve piece sets which retail for about $2000.
