Where to Find Stepfamily Day Cards

Tricia Goss
September 16th has been set aside to celebrate blended families, and with good cause. According to the United States Bureau of Census, 1,300 new stepfamilies are being formed every day. That means the majority of children coming up today are being raised in a blended family setting.

If you are part of a stepfamily, or you have a loved one or friend who is, honor and celebrate Stepfamily Day by sending cards to those special "steps" in your life. Even though so many people are now part of a stepfamily, appropriate cards can be difficult to find. Here are six great places to find Stepfamily Day greeting cards and e-cards, in no particular order.

1) The Step Card Collection is a website devoted to bringing stepfamilies closer together. This one is a keeper for members of a blended family. Not only do the free e-card categories include stepfather, stepmother, stepbrother, stepsister, stepson, stepdaughter, stepgrandfather and stepgrandmother (whew, let me take a breath!) but also there is an "Other Step-Family" category, as well as a wide array of holiday e-cards for stepfamily members.

2) Reminder Center offers up a charming variety of greeting cards you can order online. Reminder Center's greeting cards currently cost $2.79, with lower prices if you buy in bulk. Cards are mailed the day after you place your order, if you desire. You can have them personalize the inside of the cards and have it sent to your loved one, or have it mailed to you with an extra envelope.

3) American Greetings, a popular online source for cute, free e-cards, offers cards for stepdads, stepmoms, stepdaughters and stepsisters. Simply use the "Choose Recipient" dropdown menu to refine your search.

4) If you are not yet aware of Café Press, you are missing out on a treasure trove of greeting cards and other creative gift ideas. Café Press has over 150 million unique items, including Stepfamily Day greeting cards and other thoughtful gifts for all of your "steps".

5) 123 Greetings has a nice variety of cute and heartfelt email cards for stepparents and stepgrandparents. Best of all, they are free, free, free!

6) Blue Mountain carries a moving collection of delightful, sentimental e-cards. They do offer cards specific to members of a stepfamily. However, if one of these is not just what you want to say, you will surely find another that fits perfectly. While there are plenty of free e-cards available at Blue Mountain, you might want to look into one of the two membership options available. With the Create & Print Membership, you can create and customize cards, invitations, stationery and more and print them at home for $19.99 a year. The E-Card Membership gives you access to over 6,000 premium e-cards that you can personalize for $13.99 a year.

We do not do step=family anything. We look at ours as one huge family.

Another special day I didn't know about. My stepdad, now in Heaven, was more like a dad to me than my dad. God bless 'em.

I wasn't aware of this either...but then I received all my mementos on the regular holiday...so I can appreciate the need for such.
