I could have turned to any one of my cookbooks that are gathering dust in my cupboard. Instead, I chose to surf the Internet to see if I could find a recipe that went a bit beyond the traditional boring turkey and cornbread stuffing. I found plenty of recipes and chose the one that had sausage and cranberries in the stuffing.
I'm glad that I printed this recipe out because I don't know if I would be able to find it this year, as new recipes are constantly added to these recipe sites. Here are some resources that I hope you find useful.
Allrecipes.com: This is my favorite site, no matter what time of the year it is. I have always found some great recipes to add a little zing to my dinner menus. What I appreciate about this site is the rating system of the recipes, as well as the user comments. You can get some great tips and pointers by reading those alone.
I found several turkey recipes and chose the Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way. The recipe was easy to follow and tasted fine, for turkey. You will also find helpful articles on cooking time, cooking on a budget, how to cook a turkey, how to carve a turkey, brining a turkey, thawing a turkey and more.
FoodNetwork.com: I like how this site is set up. Not only does it have a user rating system, but it has a skill level. I found this one recipe that I would like to try this year, called Roasted Turkey with Maple Cranberry Glaze. That sounds very good, and it was given the Easy level rating.
You will also find several articles, such as how to truss a turkey, and interesting-sounding Post Thanksgiving turkey recipes.
SimplyRecipes.com: An Internet search took me directly to this turkey recipe. While you're there, click on the Thanksgiving Recipes link in the left sidebar. There, you'll find recipes for the entire Thanksgiving dinner, plus post-holiday meals.
cdkitchen: They have a wide variety of turkeys, including an easy beginner's turkey with stuffing, grilled turkey, deep fried turkey, brined turkey, and more.
Butterball.com: The name says it all. They offer video tutorials on how to choose a turkey, thaw a turkey, stuff a turkey, roast a turkey, etc.
MarthaStewart.com: You will find more recipes and tips here.
There are way too many sites to list here, but I feel that this will give you a solid start in your Thanksgiving turkey recipe search.
