Where to Find Three Public Golf Courses in Wichita, Kansas

While there are more than six golf courses in Wichita, Kansas, I am writing about three of the five public golf courses I have seen in Wichita, Kansas. I haven't golfed on these course because I don't golf, but I have seen these three golf courses in Wichita.

However, I have taken the time to watch the golfers at a couple of the locations I am mentioning. Both times were while I was waiting either at the college or stop lights.

I do know all three of these golf courses are well maintained throughout the year. I have seen groundskeepers mowing, reseeding and other tasks for these golf courses.

Wichita State University - Braeburn Golf Course

Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, has a public golf course. When I would wait for my daughter to take classes at WSU, I would sometimes sit in the parking lot across from the course and watch the golfers play the holes near that parking lot near the entrance of the golf course.

The Braeburn Golf Course is located on the corner of Oliver and 21st Street North. To get to parking for this Wichita golf course, you will need to be on 21st North and use the Mike Oatman Drive entrance at the stop light.

You will need to turn south into Mike Oatman Drive and drive past the Marcus Welcome Center. The Golf Pro Shop and Check in Center is behind the Welcome Center. Parking for the Braeburn Golf Course is across the street in the Tyler Field at Eck Stadium parking lot.

This golf course takes up the eastern part of the main Wichita State Campus. While driving 21st Street North from Mike Oatman Drive to Oliver, the norhtern part of the golf course can be seen. While driving south turning off of 21st Street North to 17th Street North, the eastern side of the golf course can be seen. Driving along 17th Street North to the West from Oliver to just short of the southern dorm for international students on the WSU Main Campus, the southern portion of the golf course can be seen.

Golf Wichita, City of Wichita - 5 Municipal Golf Courses

There are two of the five public golf courses for the City of Wichita that I recognize. These two municipal golf courses are Sim Park Golf Course and the L.W. Clapp Golf Course.

I have driven past the Sim Park Golf Course on Pawnee between McClean and Broadway in Wichita, Kansas, when I lived off of Pawnee in Wichita. There is also a Frisbee Golf Course located in the Sim Park. This golf course is located near the Arkansas River that runs through Wichita.

There is also a public park located in the same place of the Sim Park golf course. I would drive through this park on occassion at lunch to kill time while working at Albertson's.

The L.W. Clapp Golf Course is located on the corner of Oliver and Harry. When I would fill in at Albertson's I could see this park and golf course from their parking lot on Harry. I also would drive by it when I would go shopping at the Parklane Shopping Center on Oliver and Lincoln.
