Where to Find Tooth Fairy Poems

Michelle M. Guilbeau
Kids love receiving the small gifts and money under their pillow in the morning when they lose a tooth. As an educator, I really believe that children should be exposed to a variety of poems and I think an exciting and fun way to share poetry with kids is by giving a tooth fairy poem along with the small gift or money.

As a teacher, I always had centers in my room and one of my centers was a poetry center, many times I would include a tooth fairy poem in the center and I typically tried to place tooth fairy poems in the center after kids lost a tooth in the classroom. The kids absolutely loved the tooth fairy poems and when a student would lose a tooth, the kids would always ask me if I was going to place the tooth fairy poem in the center. Of course I had to so not to disappoint the kids.

Poems can be so meaningful for kids and can spur great creativity; if a child loves a poem they can produce incredible writing results using the poem as inspiration. I have witnessed amazing writing pieces and results just from a simple tooth fairy poem and it is because some kids get so excited about the tooth fairy and losing teeth that there is an incredible connection with the tooth fairy poems.
