Where to Find Updated Infant Product Recall Listings

Product Recall List

Do you know where to find product recall information? Do you check recalls before purchasing infant and children products? If not, you may be placing your child in danger.

Our most precious and vital resource is in danger. We are continuously provided with commercials and information regarding the danger our waterways, pet population, grizzlies and even leopard population is in. However, quite often, it is our children that are in more danger than any of these. Predators, abortion, swimming pools and other dangers surround our children daily.

While in Walmart a few days ago, I was afforded an opportunity to take a few minutes and wait in the main office. While waiting, I began to browse around; it was a long wait! I began to check some of the boards and papers placed around for customers and others as they wait. I happened to look on their product recall wall. The list had quite a few products so I moved closer to see just what was on the list. I also wanted to make sure I had none of the recalled products at home.

I was hurt and shocked when I saw the number of infant products on the list versus other items. On this recall list of about thirty products, with the exception of one item, all were for baby products: cribs, swings, toys, even formula.

I did not question Walmart because the same list was placed at their front entrance, in their customer service area and then in the office. I decided to write an article about the danger manufacturers and retailers are placing our children in. With what seems to be little regard for safety, some products are placed on store shelves without proper quality control.

As a parent, we have a responsibility to make sure before we purchase anything for our children, we have checked, rechecked and checked again to try and guarantee their safety. Our children look to us for their safety. When we place them in their cribs, they don't question whether the item or crib is safe, they trust us to make sure it is safe. They are confident and rely totally on us to guarantee and secure their life.

Don't deny them that security. Make sure before you purchase anything, your child is safe from danger when you use it, give it to them or place them in it. Before purchasing a product for your small child, check product recall listings. The following websites provide updated recalls and other vital information necessary to protect your child.

About.com Infant Product Recall Information

About.com provides a list of current baby product recalls. The list is updated sometimes two and three times weekly. They provide the total number of items recalled, a link to pictures, company website information and phone numbers for consumers to call at Baby Product Recalls.

Hugamonkey Infant Product Recall Information

Hugamonkey demonstrates the magnitude of infant and children product recalls by providing an infographic. In the infographic, the reader gets an aerial view of the number of products, why the product was recalled when it was recalled along with a picture and status. You can see this info at Hugamonkey.com.

We all love our little ones and would die for them. Yet, we take little time investigating thee safety of a product before making a purchase. Far too often I see pictures of parents standing at gravesides looking at their baby being lowered into the ground. Don't let your child be one of those statistics. Protect them by researching before buying!

Too bad it's a full-time job just keeping up with the recalls. Great information, Malina.

Great information. State Attorney Generals offices sometimes keep records of recall info as well.

Unfortunately, so much stuff is being imported from overseas, where they probably don't have the necessary quality controls. When I see "made in China" on a product, I immediately become suspicious.

Yes, I check the Walmart board about once a month.
