To prepare for the upcoming flu season, officials with the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) with support from the Chicago Department on Aging (CDoA) are holding clinics where they will offer free flu shots throughout the city to citizens of Chicago. More than 100 clinics will be held throughout the months of October and November and will continue into the early part of December. Officials are working to close the gap in the low number of African-Americans and Hispanics who receive the flu shot every year by holding clinics in the communities with a higher percentage of ethnic citizens.
The free flu shot clinics are open to everyone, but high-risk individuals are urged to take advantage of the program. Vaccinations against pneumococcal infection, a complication of the flu, will also be offered. Though the flu shot must be repeated annually, pneumococcal vaccinations are generally required only once to provide ongoing immunity. Vaccinations are free, but senior citizens should bring their Medicare cards with them.
The locations and times of the free flu shot clinics throughout Chicago are:

This list of Chicago's free flu shot clinics can also be found at the City of Chicago's website at http://egov.cityofchicago.org.
High-risk citizens should visit one of Chicago's free flu shot clinics or to get their flu shot from their doctor or pharmacy. Walgreen's pharmacies are offering flu shots at their stores during scheduled clinics for $24.99. CVS pharmacies also are holding clinics where the flu shots are $30, or $27 for customers with a CVS Extra Care discount card. According to its website, CVS requires those receiving flu shots to be at least eighteen years old. Call your local store or check online at www.Walgreens.com or www.CVS.com for clinic dates and times at individual stores.
Factors that increase the risk of complications from the flu include: those age 50 and older, those with chronic medical conditions - including asthma or other lung diseases, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, blood disease, or a suppressed immune system from medication, HIV infection, or other immune disorder, pregnant women, children ages six months to five years of age, health care workers, including those who care for an ill or elderly family member.
While there will be plenty of flu vaccine on hand this year, Chicago residents are encouraged to come early. The body takes about two weeks to build up full immunity, creating a window of exposure time for those who wait. For those who are infected with the flu, antiviral medications are available that can help, but they generally have to be given at early onset of flu symptoms. Contact your doctor if you are experiencing a high fever with chills, muscle aches, a headache, a dry cough, and often stomach symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea.
Getting a flu shot cannot give you the flu. The vaccine is created with the dead flu virus particles. While flu shot recipients may experience side effects including soreness at the injection site, a mild fever, and slight achiness, it will not develop into the flu. The flu shot is believed to be 70-90% effective, depending upon the health of the person being immunized, but health officials stress taking precautions to prevent the spread of the flu. According to the CDC, you should wash your hands often, get plenty of sleep, stay home when you are sick, avoid close contact with people who are sick, and cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough to prevent catching or spreading colds and the flu.

ALL DAYS AND DATES ARE IN ERROR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the days scheduled for the flu shots in Chicago do not work in the calendar. Nov 1st falls on a Sunday, not Thursday!
ALL DAYS AND DATES ARE IN ERROR.
FLU shot is useless, I know people getting sick from just the flu shot.
http://www.vaclib.org/basic/fluindex.htm
Flu vaccine contains: trivalent influenza virus, types A&B gentamicin sulphate formadehyde, thimerosal ((Mercury)), and polysorbate 80 chick embryonic fluid
Flu Deaths are only a small percentage of the frequently stated 36,000 deaths per year associated with the flu. The 36,000 is a combined figure for both flu and pneumonia. Flu deaths alone are typically 1 to 4 % of the combined total of 36,000.
There are an estimated average of 1250 deaths associated with the flu each year in the USA [1250/36,000= 3.5%].
There is long term, large population evidence that the flu vaccine does NOT save lives in those over 65. Graphs
The flu vaccine is NOT effective in any age group at preventing the flu.
