Where to Get a Flu Shot in Cleveland 2007-2008

According to health experts, hand washing and an influenza vaccine are the best ways to prevent the getting flu. The Cuyahoga County Board of Health is encouraging Cleveland area residents to get a flu shot and the Cleveland Department of Public Health has a hotline, (216) 664-4621, established for residents to get updates and current flu shot information for the 2007-2008 flu season.

Free and low cost immunization clinics are located throughout Cleveland and complete list can by found clicking here. Fees are covered by Medicare primary insurance and the flu shot costs $25 for adults and $12 for children ages 18 and younger.

The Cleveland Department of Aging provides free flu shots and free pneumonia shots to seniors ages 65 and older as well as to adults 18 and older living with a chronic illness. Click here for a complete list of the clinics providing free flu shots to those eligible.

Retail chains with pharmacies are providing more influenza vaccines each year including warehouse stores such as Costco and Sam's Club as well as pharmacies like Rite Aid, Walgreens, Discount Drug Mart, and Marc's.

Discount Drug Mart provides flu shots at their Cleveland metro area locations for a cost of $30. Click here for a schedule of Discount Drug Mart's flu clinics by location, or call your local drugstore for more information. Most of their locations offer flu shot on two different dates throughout the month of October.

Marc's offers flu shots at their Cleveland area locations for a cost of only $23 between October and mid-November 2007. Click here for a complete schedule of Marc's Pharmacy flu shots by store or by date. No appointment is necessary as the flu vaccine is given on a first come first serve basis. Many Marc's locations will hold flu shot clinics on two or three different dates.

Walgreens charges $24.99 for flu shots at their Cleveland area locations and appointments are required and can be made by calling your local Walgreens Pharmacy. A complete list of flu shot clinics, dates, and times, is on the Walgreens website.
