Where to Get Free Magazines

Completely Free -- No Strings Attached!

Brooke Lorren
If you like reading magazines, then you might be interested in getting some for free. Over the years, I've been able to get magazines like Parents, Newsweek, Shape, and Good Housekeeping, completely free. Some of the other magazines that I've seen given away for free include Latina Magazine, Forbes, Business Week, and Maxim. You'll have to check frequently if you have a particular magazine that you're looking for, but there are plenty of magazines that companies are giving away.

You may be wondering why companies give away their magazines for free. Sometimes publishers will give away magazines for free because they are trying to get subscribers interested in a new magazine. Other times, established magazines give away subscriptions because they make money off the advertisements, and if they give the magazines to you, the advertisers are hoping that you'll read the magazine and buy their products.

The free magazines that you can find on these sites are not trial subscriptions. You don't have to send in any cards telling the publisher that you want to cancel. You don't have to input your credit card information. You may have to fill out a short survey, but that's it!

FatWallet.com

FatWallet.com is a community of people that like bargains. The forum participants are always looking for freebies that you can get on the internet, and they post them so that everybody else knows about them as well. Check out the freebie forum. There are almost always a few free magazines to be had. There is also a stickied thread where you can search for magazine subscriptions that other people are giving away.

StartSampling.com

Start Sampling.com is a web site where you can try out free samples. Sometimes you can get a free magazine subscription for a full year, other times you might get one or two free issues. The available magazines change regularly, so check back frequently. Start Sampling also gives away samples of other items.

Slickdeals.net

Slickdeals.net is another web site that is a lot like FatWallet.com, except this web site has a forum devoted to free magazines. There is also a thread where you can request a magazine, and a thread where you can trade or give away magazines that you already have.

Since Slickdeals and FatWallet are both web sites that depend on the contributions of its members, you might see the same magazines listed on both sites. By checking both sites, you're more likely to find the magazine that you want.

There are some magazines that I've never seen listed as a freebie. Many of these magazines don't contain as many advertisements. However, there are plenty of free magazines to choose from. Hope you find what you're looking for!

  • Magazine publishers often give away free magazines.
  • Several message boards contain links to sign up for free subscriptions.
Getting a free subscription is a great way to try out a magazine that you're not too sure whether you'll enjoy or not.
