Geico Lizard, Gecko Lizard, Both Are Lizards, One is Real and the Other Isn't

Are you looking for the answer to the question: Where is the Geico Insurance Company lizard from? Or, what is the native habitat of the insurance company, Geico's lizard? The Geico lizard from the Geico Insurance Company commercial is a "Gecko" lizard. This is the correct name for this lizard. The Geico Insurance Company used it for their mascot due to the similar sounding names. The Geico gecko is a native of a tropical climate. They are found in warm climates all around the world. There are over 2,000 species of these little guys world wide. The Geico gecko can come from anywhere, including the US, where there is a warm climate.

His accent on the commercials would lead you to believehe could have a British accent, but this has been addressed and we now know that he is not from there. Next guess would be Australian, but this is mentioned on the commercial. Just when it looks as if he were going to say somewhere else, he is cut off.

The Geico Insurance Company Lizzard which is a gecko, is not an actual duplicate of what the real gecko lizard looks like. They took liberties of changing the looks of this type of lizard to make it more appealing.

The real gecko lizards are small to average sized lizards belonging to the Gekkonidae family of lizards.

The real gecko is unique in their vocalizations in socializing with one another. They make chirping sounds while communicating with one another.

The Geico gecko is in real life a unique species of lizards. They have no eye lids, just membranes that cover their eye. The membrane is transparent and they lick it clean.

When they need to defend themselves they expel this foul smelling material along with feces at their enemy.

The Geico geckos are the lizards that in real life can actually walk across the ceiling with their unique specialized toe pads. These toe pads let them climb many trees with ease.

In other tropical countries they have a species called the House Gecko that becomes a welcome quest in homes and actually make their homes in those of humans.

There still is no definite answer for where the Geico Insurance Company gecko comes from. I am sure we have not heard the last of this. Do we see a contest coming on for the correct answer to this question?

well after doing much research, the person who does his voice has a British (cockney) accent, so that would make sense that that is also the same accent that martin (the gecko's name) has a cockney/british accent as well

It is evident that none of the readers of this article have seen the original movie "Alfie" starring Michael Caine made in 1966. He plays a British character with a working class accent, who spends much of the movie walking and talking to the camera - just like the Geico gecko. You can find the movie on youtube.

I believe that the geico gecko is from the Falkland Islands. The British fought very hard to keep those islands so that the lizards could be free, and by cracky they're still free!

The geico gecko is from South Africa, guys! Listen to the accent. It is similar to British but he is not from there. He is from South Africa. Play a few interviews of Charles Story and you catch it right off!
