Where Do You Go?

Candida Bohnne-Eittreim

Where do you go my heart

when your mind folds in on itself

in intricate origami thoughts

and words don't come out right

from your trembling lips?

I watch your tired grey eyes

so red and burnt

go far away from this place of pain

to places I cannot follow

What do you see my love

as you sit so still watching the walls?

Eyes glazing over with tears and longing

Tell me, so I can understand

Do not weep for the past,

for the ghosts of regret,

let them go

let them go

Let your soul soar high above this bed of pain

a falcon freed from the tethers that bound you here

singing your raptors song

into the ear of God

Do not weep heart of my heart

Cleanse the hurt and sorrow from your tired soul

and promise me, oh vow to me

that we will meet again

beyond the gates of time.

Where we will light the skies with our love....
