Here is the information you'll need to go backpacking and hiking at the 4,461-acre Stony Creek Metropark.
Stony Creek Metropark has more than 27 miles of hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty. The trails will take you through fields, woodlands and wetlands. So you'll get a variety of scenic views along your backpacking hike on the trail. Six miles of the Stony Creek Metropark trails are moderately hilly with lots of birds and wildlife to view. Bring your binoculars if you're interested in looking at birds.
If you're looking for a heavily wooded area for backpacking, check out the 14 miles of hilly trails in Stony Creek Metropark. You'll find this section of Stony Creek Metropark on the southwest side of the park. If you want to backpack, hike or bike on a paved trail, you'll want to check out the 6.2 miles around the 500-acre Stony Creek Lake. You'll experience flat to hilly terrain on the trail.
You'll be able to reach the highest point in Macomb County on Black trail in Stony Creek Metropark. When the weather is clear you can see downtown Detroit.
If you drive to Stony Creek Metropark, you'll pay $5 for parking to enter the park. If you pay for the year, it'll cost you $25 for annual vehicle park entry. Stony Creek Metropark is at 4300 Main Park Road in Shelby Township, Michigan. The hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. October 1 to April 30 and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 1 to September 30.
