Where to Go when Vacationing Alone

Not all of us are blessed with family and/or friends who are good to travel with, but we all need vacations sometimes. So, here are a few destinations that are good for one.

1. Las Vegas is a popular place for adults of all ages but it can be a good place to go alone. When sitting in a casino, you'll be sure to find other people there by themselves. At nights, you can check out some shows or some dance clubs, or even one of the many exotic dance clubs to vent or meet some girls.

2. The city that never sleeps, New York City, always has something going on. The people in general are not too welcoming but you won't be bored. Bars and night clubs are sometimes open all night and with all the people living and visiting Manhattan Island, you may well find someone you can get along with.

3. Memphis is a rather fun place to hang out alone. The city is filled with blues and jazz bars and restaurants. I've had some good evenings just sitting at a bar listening to the music. Less than 30 minutes away is Tunica, which has a slew of casinos, a big draw for single males looking to blow off some steam.

4. Amsterdam, known for its large red light district, is another good place to go alone. You may think it's not one of the safer places but it is a city of sin and sinning can often be more fun without your friends.

5. New Orleans, much like Memphis, has numerous good bars and restaurants where you can just chill out and listen to music. Its music is more Jazz-oriented. Bourbon Street gets filled with drunk singles at night so you might find yourself a companion, at least for the night.

6. Nashville is yet another American city known for a great music scene. Nashville's music scene is mostly country so you'll find lots of rednecks. For someone traveling along, nothing beats live music over dinner and a few beers.

7. Beaches typically wouldn't make my list of places to go alone but I'm putting Savannah and Tybee Island on this list. It's on the Atlantis Ocean in Georgia. Tybee Island is a very quiet island just outside Savannah, one of the most historic cities in the USA. Relax and meditate at the beach during the day, explore downtown and River Street in the evening.

8. Bangkok, Thailand, is known for its beautiful women so as a destination it is probably more popular for men looking for a naughty vacation than for women. Thailand is a fairly cheap place once you get there.

9. Miami is known for great beaches and a great nightlife. As such, it is a good place to travel alone.

10. Singles cruises are designed specifically for people traveling alone. The organizers can match you up with a roommate and have numerous activities to help get to know other people and have a week of fun. I've never been on one but I've heard they can be great fun.
