Where is God to You?

The Wide or Narrow Path of Life

Denise
Have you ever contemplated about your life, such as how you arrived in you current place? Do you ever stop to think about all it took for you to get to that place? Moreover, do you ever feel proud of all you have accomplished as if it happened by your own hard work? In many cases it may be true how you've obtained success in life, family and in your career. However, there is one thing that should always be remembered. The important thought of gratitude should be directed to God for the strength and open doors toward your goals. A Savior so generous as he has been with you is definitely a friend right? God is a special friend to those who know him from Bible readings and following the example of his son Jesus Christ. In addition, Our lord leads us in the direction we are suppose to be in which is in no means a path we sought ourselves. God many times moves us to go in a certain direction we have never though of before the thought entered our minds. Since God wants us to be happy in him trusting in his judgment, he leads us to a path that will lead us directly to heaven.

It has been said that there are two paths in life, one that we know well and the other we do not know. The most familiar path is a wide road full of excitement, danger and intrigue. That road has everything you could possibly want and more. It is the road most travels on daily when we make our plans for how we want to live. I've heard it said in church by a woman I've know since a child that "It is not what God can do for you...it is what you can do for yourself" followed by a hearty AMEN from the congregation. Those words stick in your head, and you watch others around you who are successful figuring why not? So, what have we obtained from the interesting road our dream home on a class street, that imported furniture set the promotion in our careers, our favorite vehicle, dream vacations, marriage, children, a position in our church, many reputable friends, a really cool wardrobe, seasonal ticket to plays, operas and games.

When you think about it, none of those things are really bad as long as God is considered in everything you've done. Yet, with so much going on around you it is much easier to say a quick prayer and make it up later. The only down side is that is turns out to be a measure of your worth to everyone, but God. In fact, it is impossible to hold your head up without success due to the scrutiny you will receive as people refer to you as ambitionless. People you live with every day matters so much, because you can SEE them...God you can only think about. When things go wrong, that's when God comes in handy for help out of a rut. Then, things are back in order as the glamorous life just lures you in, seducing you until it owns every part of your being. Your heart, mind and soul belongs to that beautiful road that is so bright you can't see the cracks in the pavement getting deeper from all the weight.

Remember to look to your right when life gets to complicated on that road of greed. What you view will amaze you once you get enough courage to investigate.
You will find another road less traveled that doesn't look anything like the road you've been on all your life. It is dark, narrow, smoky and full of rocks to climb. You will say to yourself maybe this is a short cut, but within minutes you will find that it is another entire direction. Not to mention, your stunned amazement after discovering there are people on that difficult road. You can ask " Where does this path lead?" They may take a few minutes to answer, but someone will nod forward and say " straight ahead". There are no other paths, but that one. They have forsaken the world to take a tough road they also were impressed to do.

Am I saying that the only way to heaven is by being unhappy with nothing? No. There are many paths on the wide road that cannot be found on the narrow road that could lead toward the same path. In all you do acknowledge him and he will direct your path. To whom much is given much is required. You look good on your current road, and those strange few who go the hard way to follow Christ doesn't due to the many trials they have to face. Your path to heaven could be to be thoughtful and make their burdens lighter by honoring their sacrifice by sacrificing your useful information, or things. Encourage them on their dark journey, unless you do not know who these people are. First, when you encounter them hold your tongue if tempted to insult them or their choices.

You will know these people ,if you pray about it from the heart, by looking into their faces. They are the face of unfamiliar Innocent calm amidst a world of terror, they seem to be to themselves unlike anyone else you've ever met. Some people have reported seeing people with a light aura around them or a very clean look about them. They will not brag to you about their journey, because there isn't anything fun about the journey they are taking. Some may see it as going beyond the call of duty to God, but who can say how much to give God when he gives continuously. These people are not to be discouraged from their path, because once you enter it is too tight to turn around a different way for you are then set in your way for God to lead. There is a song I heard in church with the words:

Please be patient with me, God is not through with me yet.(repeat )
When God gets through with me (repeat)
I shall come forth (repeat 3 times) as pure gold.
