Where Has Gratitude Gone?

PJ Richards
Is Gratitude extinct? Is pleasant conversation a thing of the past?

I miss the good old days of pleasant conversation. When people had good things to say about each other and life. I'm tired of listening to people sit around and complain loud and long about everything. They're sick of the price of gas. They're tired of paying high prices for groceries. They're sick of politicians.

I'm sick of listening to them list everything they're sick of.

If you don't like the price of gas, do something about it! Contact your representatives. Start an investigation. Get a vehicle that uses less gas. Quit driving. Get a job so you can pay for gas. While you're at it, be glad you live in a country where you can purchase gas at any price. The United States is a free country.

If you're sick of the cost of groceries, grow your own. You might also pause for a moment and be thankful you live in a country full of grocery stores containing shelves full of all kinds of food.

If you're sick of Washington, join the club. Most of us are. Some of us vote. The only people who aren't sick of Washington are the lobbyists and others making big money in D.C. It would be nice if lobbying were against the law and D.C. salaries were on par with the rest of the country. Nothing will change until people not only get tired of it all but take action also.

Do something besides flapping your jaws and giving the rest of the world high blood pressure from listenting to you. Start an organization. Run for office. Vote. Publish the truth about political decisions and policies.

The next time you're tempted to start running your mouth complaining about how the world isn't run to suit you, consider this. You can say good things as easily as you can complain. You have access to gas and groceries. You can vote. You can even run your mouth all you want, anywhere you want. Just don't expect me to listen. After all, it is a free country.

  • It is difficult to purchase gasoline in some countries.
  • Food is not plentiful in some countries.
  • Just because someone has the freedom of speech to complain doesn't mean anyone has to listen.

Awesome article and I totally agree. Life is too short to sit around and complain about everything, either do something or get over it and enjoy the life you do have while it lasts.

Very good points. I just submitted one entitled "Where has Politeness Gone". I think it went the same way as gratitude. Great article.

Good points. I never understood why people who did not vote - complain about their politians and their "bad" life in the U.S.

Gratitude is an attitude. You have it and eloquently have sharred it, Thank You. You might enjoy my article "You reap what you sow."
