Where to Look Online for Forensic Science Position Job Openings

Forensic Science Job Opening Websites

Kristen Wilkerson
Looking for a job opening in forensic science? You are not alone. In fact, CSI, criminalists, forensic investigators, and other similar careers have grown popular due to the "CSI" television series. Yet, jobs within the field are often difficult to find. Quite often the positions are obtained by "who you know" since many forensic science jobs are posted with a short application time frame before the deadline.

The following is a list of forensic science job opening websites posting various current openings. They are frequently changing, so the actual jobs are not listed in this article. However, links to each website and a small description of what is available is provided. As you can see, there are many acronyms involved with these agencies, so both the acronym and the long form of the company is mentioned.

The AAFS (American Academy of Forensic Sciences)
This site lists by job the current job openings in the forensic science fields. Usually the list includes toxicologists, forensic pathologist, DNA lab directors, DNA analysts, latent print examiners, and much more. This is the primary resource for many people hoping to find a career in forensic science.

The ASCLD (The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors)
This site not only lists the forensic science job posting, but also lists the company and location of each position. The postings are free of charge for public agencies with forensic science related job postings. Jobs remain posted up to three months, or until their closing date expires.

The NEAFS (The Northeast Association of Forensic Scientists)
While this website requires more reading, the content is worth it. Each post includes significant details of various forensic science positions all over the United States -- not just in the Northeastern states as the name may indicate. Job postings can range from Arizona, Florida, Massachusetts, and even Afghanistan.

CAC (California Association of Criminalists)
Once again, just because a website seems to focus on California doesn't mean it is limited in scope to that state. This site includes job openings to several high level forensic science related careers across the United States. It also mentions the posting date so visitors can identify how recently the post has been made.

This list is only the beginning. To further your search use keywords such as "Criminalist", "forensic science job openings", or "CSI job postings" in any web browser to discover more.

Are you or someone you know hoping to work in the forensic science field? What do you think about some of these sites? Do you know of another site that would help others locate a forensic science job opening? Please comment below!

This kind of job would wear me out too quickly, I'm far too emotional for this line of work :) Cheers!

Good writing. My daughter wanted to do this when CSI first came on T.V., but changed her mind.
