Where Love was Not an Issue

Nancie Norton
Walking,
along the shore
Looking out over the water

Wondering,
about tomorrow
Thinking about yesterday

And finding peace
in today

Marveling at the changes
that life has brought my way

Tiny baby steps

Big steps are too much

As I am stepping
out of a life
Where the tie that binds
Was wrapped
only around one heart

A heart
with true compassion
For the soul of another
A soul
that could not love another
A soul
that could not love it's self

Because as a child
It was not taught to love
Learning only
to survive
In a life,
where love was not an issue

It's sad
When one sees others
only as players in a game

A game called life,
Where in his eyes,
there are no allies

Always seeking to win
at all cost
trusting no one
Stepping on many
as his game progresses

His ruthlessness grows
No one,
gets a free pass from him

Life moves,
faster and faster
Toward a time
When being alone and lonely
will be the prize

Awarded to the winner

Who could not lose
to love.......

Written at the hospital, in the quiet of the night,
This is my first attempt at writing free verse......

Thank you all for your support and prayers
PEACE-Gidget ( a sweet nickname given me,
by my especially, wonderful, AC Friends )
