Thrift Stores and Dollar Stores

At Thrift Stores you can get great merchandise for extremely cheap prices. For example, if you had a pattern and crafts (for sewing) business, this would be a great idea: Go to a Goodwill/Thrift store in your area. Buy lots of shirts, sweaters, pants, and other clothing. Cut the clothing into pieces of fabric with NO STITCHES. Then you take these fabrics and arrange them into your craft sets (one could be the Big piece of fabric needed for a pillow; of course, you probably won't find a piece of fabric that big on a piece of clothing, so I suggest making a pillow with 2 pieces of fabric one on top another. For the set you might have 2 pieces of same or different designs, the thread, and filling.) OF course, you want to ALWAYS disinfect your fabrics (or other items) from thrift stores, and you'll also want to clearly state in the description that it is sterilized, or sterilize it and not mention it is from a thrift store. So for unbeatable prices on everything from clothes to electronics, check out your neighborhood Thrift of Dollar store. (This all goes the same with Flea Markets and Tag Sales)

Wholesale Superstores

These are huge stores that sell large quantities for large families, or institutions of all sorts. You can take advantage of these places since they offer good deals on wholesale goods to be resold retail in your business. Examples of these Wholesale superstores are Sam's Club, Costco's, and BJ's.

Auctions

Auctions can be a source of merchandise because they offer items that a small audience might not want, and therefore have low prices on most items. The great thing for you is that a huge audience (like the customer base on eBay), has many, many people who will want this merchandise. 2 winner types of auctions are estate auctions and liquidation auctions, which are essentially the same think: Wiping out a huge amount of stuff for cold hard cash, whether it is for bills, or a will.

Free Stuff

Whether it is the little packets of fragrance pads or the several items left outside for anybody to come along and pick up at the end of a Tag Sale, freebies are the path to pure profit. If you amass several fragrance samples, perhaps in groups of 10 or 5 you can sell these sets on eBay, and they will fetch a nice sum. People leave items such as stools and just cases of miscellaneous tabletop items once a Tag Sale is one and gone, because they would rather have someone come and pick it up for no charge than to choose from the options : Keep it around the house, Pay someone to come pick it up, and bring it to the dump yourself.
