Pumpkins, Mazes and Events for Families Right Near Downtown Portland

There are lots of great places to pick pumpkins - some located surprisingly close to downtown Portland. And you can do more more than just pick pumpkins - many of the farms also sponsor additional kid-friendly events. Here's a list of pumpkin patches, you can also see a map of these farms here.

Baggenstos Farm

Baggenstos goes all out for the fall harvest with a corn maze as well as pumpkin bowling, animal displays and free hayride. Pumpkin picking starts October 1st, Mon-Thurs from 9am to 6pm, Friday and Saturday 9am to 9:30pm, Sunday 9:30 am to 5pm. The corn maze is open Sunday from 9am to 5pm, Mon-Thurs from 9am to 6pm, and on Fridays from 9am to 9:30pm (experience it in the dark!) Plumper Pumpkin Patch

Plumper Pumpkin Patch is located near Forest Park, and is one of the few pumpkin patches NOT located on Sauvie Island - avoid the traffic jam! Musical performers on some days, weekend extras (start at 11am) include a barrel train, pumpkin cannon, trebuchet (11 am to 5pm on the hour), slingshots ($1 per shot), pony rides (11 am to 4pm, $5 for children up to 125 pounds) and hayrides. Open daily from September 17 until October 31st, 9am to 5:30pm. $4 for activities, additional cost for hayride, slingshot and barrel train.

Sauvie Island Farms

Sauvie Island Farms is just 10 miles from Portland, but beware the traffic getting onto the island. Sauvie Island Farm was closed last year due to wholesale demand, but are open again. A bit more down-to-earth than some of the other farms, but still includes a hay pyramid, straw maze and a hayride (all free). Dogs not allowed due to concerns about e-coli. Open Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm, closed Sundays. Grab the coupon on the website. No admission fee.

Kruger's Farm

17100 NW Sauvie Island Rd, Portland, OR 97231

Also located on Sauvie Island, Kruger's Farm features hayrides, a corn maze, pony rides, food and beer. The Annual Harvest Hoe Down is October 15th from 4pm to 10pm, $10 per car after 6pm, and includes food, music, a bonfire and more. Farm is open 9am to sunset daily. The corn maze costs $6 (kids under four free with paid adult), and is open Monday-Thursday from 9am to 6pm, Friday and Saturday 9am to 10pm, Sunday 9am to 8pm.

The Pumpkin Patch

Another Sauvie Island Farm, The Pumpkin Patch features a corn maze, free hayrides (noon to 5:30), cow train (noon to 5pm) and animal barn (9am to 6pm). The maze costs $5 for kids 6-12, and $7 for kids 13 to 60. It is open Sunday - Thursday 10 am to 6pm, Fri-Sat 10 am-10pm. The Haunted Maze is open at special times, check the website for details. The farm is open daily 9am to 6pm.
