Is it OK to re-gift, well I think so and so do many others. But thanks to the Internet you don't have to give it away for nothing. You can turn your thoughtless gift into someone else's thoughtful treasure. There are re-gifting sites on the Internet where you can trade with others who have the unfortunate task of re-gifting their presents as well.
Ebay:
This is for the gift cards specifically. If you happen to get a gift card at a store that you either do not shop at or would just rather have money then you can sell your card on line. This is a bit of a hassle though. If you don't have an account you will need to make one then set it up for selling, but once done you will not have to do so again. People bid up to the very last penny on gift cards so you can get what it is worth.
I advise this only if you get a card that is worth more than fifty dollars otherwise it is not worth the hassle.
PlasticJungle.com
Again this is for selling just the gifts cards, here though is a little bit easier than Ebay. You will get only up to 85% of what it is worth. But here you can sell your card, buy another card with what money you get or trade with someone else their card. The site is set up simply even the newest Internet users can make sense of what to do, how to do it, etc...
This site is great for you if you want a quicker, easier way to buy, sell, or trade your gift card for slightly less than it's original value.
BarterQuest.com
This is for any gift you have that you don't want. This site lets you post what you have and then says what you want and then you just wait for a trade, or an offer. You do have to sign up for it, it's the same way you sign up for anything else on the Internet so no surprises there. You can barter anything here, so no matter what it is you have you want to get rid of you can probably do it here.
This site is useful for all things except maybe fruitcake.
RegiftOnline.com
This one works the same as barter quest although you will not see as much in the way of variety here. This is a site dedicated to those who just want to re-gift, without any hassle and without getting caught. You post your gift, whether it be a teddy bear or an poncho it does not matter. You pick a code name, sign up and then hope to trade. Here you can share amusing stories about re-gifting with their community of other re-gifters.
This site is great to use if you want to trade and get a good laugh with others about some of the terrible gifts that have been given.
There were other places on line that I found but these ones looked to be the most reputable and most used by others in the same predicament. Re-gifting should not be thought of as rude, or un-thoughtful of someone else's feelings. The truth is if the person who gave you the horrid gift really was trying to get you a gift that you would like then they would want you to trade it in for something you do like, want or need? And if they just put no thought what's so ever and obviously did not care one way or another then why spend a moment of your time worrying, just re-gift and be happy about it.
