Where to Stay when Visiting Downtown Las Vegas

Downtown Las Vegas Hotels
Neighborhood: Fremont Street
Las Vegas, NV 89101
United States of America
Downtown Las Vegas is considerably cheaper to visit than going directly to the Strip, but you do need to know where to stay. The hotels in this area are older but the feel is that of Old Time Vegas, just the way we like it!!

Golden Nugget
The Golden Nugget is one of the most recognizable downtown attractions. Most of the rooms have been renovated which gives you a great value for the price. The hotel maintains its Old Charm in the luxurious rooms. Some of the amenities include FREE parking, Concierge, Internet, Buffet, etc. The prices you will find here are reminiscent of Old Time Vegas. However, the rooms are dark because the hotel is older. Overall, the Golden Nugget is a great bang for your buck with rooms ranging from $59 to $359 during the week.

Plaza
One of the main attractions at the Plaza is the revival of the Rat Pack! Other amenities include a variety of rooms, valet service, beauty salon and swimming pool and one of the best spots for the Fremont Street Experience. This hotel does not rate as high with guest reviews, but has many day trip attractions that make it worth visiting while you are downtown on Fremont Street.

Four Queens
Rating just as high as the Golden Nugget with guest reviews, the Four Queens is one of the top 4 hotels on Fremont Street. Guests rate the Casino and buffet high as well. Rooms start at $39 a night. This casino has won awards from the Las Vegas Review for best Black Jack around! Guests say that for the price the rooms are good as well as the amenities offered.

Golden Gate
This hotel is credited as being the most historic hotel in Vegas and to prove this staff offers a friendly experience. Despite this effort, guests do not rate the Golden Gate as high as others. The Golden Gate offers the same amenities as the surrounding properties, but guests prefer to visit this hotel for the cheap good food rather than the casino or rooms.

Main Street Station
One of the higher ranked hotels, Main Street Station also offers an RV Park for traveling guests. Many conventions, such as PBR (Professional Bull Riders) book here so there is always bound to be some action. Guests complain that the rooms are not too fantastic, but again they come back for the Old Time feel that is reminiscent of when Vegas was founded. Rooms can run as low as $40 a night here, which is still a good rate, but the rooms are similar to that of a Super 8.

Las Vegas Club
One of the newer properties in the area, the hotel was built in 1980 and the rooms are still reminiscent of that era. The staff here is friendly, but you can tell the difference between this and other properties. Many people prefer to gamble here but stay at the older hotels to fully live up the Rat Pack era.

Binions
By far the lowest ranked by users, many think that even for $33 a night it is not worth it. Most commonly cited for the poor review is poor rooms and unfriendly staff. I have not been here in a while so I am unsure if circumstances have improved.

Remember that each of these hotels are a short walk away from one another, so you can stay where you like and still enjoy all the attractions that Fremont Street has to offer. Plus, there are many shuttles that run between Fremont and The Strip so you can stay in Vegas for cheap and still enjoy all the excitement that The Strip has to offer.
