Where to Study at College

Mateo
Studying will and should take up a large chunk of your time at college. Since this is the case it is important that you develop good study habits. One of the most important things about your study habits is where you choose to study. There are many different options, each with there our pros and cons. Below I will go through the different possibilities and will explain why or why not to choose them.

1. Dorm room- The best part about your dorm room is that you have everything that you need right there. You will not find yourself running back to your room for things like who would with other locations which wastes time. If you are at a quiet dorm, you will also have a quiet place to study. However your roommate and all the things in your room, such as your computer, and food could distract you from getting and work done. Since it is your room, you may also have people come visit you and distract you.

2. Library- the good thing about the library is that it should have the least amount of distractions and should be the quietest place to study on campus. One thing that you lose however is the aspect of meeting people. When you are at your dorm, or in a lounge, you are much more likely to meet people. In the library the atmosphere is purely study.

3. Cafeteria- This is the loudest option of the three. I would recommend you only plan on doing work there before or after meal hours. It is a great place to work on homework with others and be open to meeting new people. Don't plan on being near as productive as you would be in other locations however as there will be constant distractions. It would be the most fun you can have doing homework though and is definitely worth doing once in a while to mix it up. I like to use the cafeteria for studying for an exam with some friends. It is really fun, you actually get some studying in, and the time flies.

Now that you know the pros and cons of each place the choice is yours. I would encourage you to try out the different places in order to see what fits your style. Mix is up to keep things interesting.
