Where to Study Fashion Design & Textile Design in Lahore, Pakistan
Neighborhood: Lahore
The majority of fashion designing schools in Pakistan are based in Lahore, although Karachi is also a major center for textile design. There are a variety of Bachelor's and Master's level programs as well as short professional courses offered at design institutes.

Pakistan School of Fashion Design (PSFD)

Founded in 1995 by Mr. Abu Shamim Arif, the Pakistan School of Fashion Design (PSFD) is located on Sunder Das Road in Lahore. PSFD's four-year program accommodates about 100 students, and some of their graduates have already gone on to make it big in the fashion world. The school's affiliation with Les Ecoles de la Chambre Syndicale Parisienne in France has served to link Lahore's fashion industry with Paris.

Beaconhouse National University (BNU)

Pakistan's first four-year liberal arts college, Beaconhouse National University in Lahore, offers a four-year Bachelor of Design in both textiles and jewelry. Founded in 2003, the university's School of Art & Design (SCAD) has quickly become a popular choice for aspiring designers. The four-year program consists of 136 credits, and applications for fall admittance are due by mid-August.

Hajvery Fashion Institute of Technology

Also located in Lahore, Hajvery University's Fashion Institute of Technology offers both Bachelor's and Master's level programs in Textile Design. The Bachelor of Fashion Design (BFD) consists of eight semesters and can be completed in three to four years. The Master of Fashion Design (MFD) consists of seven semesters and can be completed in two to three years. Tuition costs average 40,000 rupees per semester.

National College of Arts (NCA)

NCA, one of the country's premier arts institutions, offers a four-year Bachelor's program in Textile Design. The program starts with a one-year foundational program to give all students a broad background in visual and creative arts. The remaining three years of the program are used to focus specifically on textile design. Admissions is competitive. Admissions examinations and face-to-face interviews are required. Tuition costs start at 600 rupees per month.

STEP

STEP, located in Muslim Town facing the canal, was founded by a U.K. based NGO. It offers a one-year program in Foundations of Art & Design as well as shorter programs in professional development for fashion designers. For students who'd like to dabble in the fashion industry without committing to a four-year degree program, STEP is a good place to start.

Arshad, I'm an American and I have lived in Pakistan for three years. Unfortunately, all many people in the US or Europe see of Pakistan is news footage, so they aren't exposed to much else about the country. I hope that my articles can help enlighten people to all that Pakistan has to offer. Try not to generalize about "all westerners," because it's simply not true!

all westerns are showing their contempt for evrything in PAKISTAN .They are seseless. we have good fasion and designing schools here in PAKISTAN .

Would never think of studying fashion design in Pakistan :-) Makes some sense though I suppose, although with the violence there at the moment it's unlikely many westerners are going to go anywhere near the country. Shame.
