But I will reveal a few other spots to you just in case first peak is to crowded. Sebastian Inlet is an Inlet that drains out of the Indian River Lagoon creating sand bars to the north and south. Most notable would be Monster Hole. Probably one of the longer waves on the Florida coast. A deep water break that reminds me of Hawaii.
First peak located north of the Sebastian Inlet pier is where several International surf contests are held each year. The famous wedging affect caused by back flow of water, formation of the sand bars and the close proximity of the pier is why most surfers seek out first peek. It can be over crowded when there is actually a wave breaking. First peak likes to work on a low and incoming tide. Although I have seen it work on an outgoing medium tide also. The break is mostly dependent on the sand bar formation and swell size and direction. The Inlet can be very fickle one minute it seems there is a ridable wave and the next the wave is gone. Going north second peak can be less crowded and usually does not have the wedging effect. But when working it can be a fast hollow wave.
Third peak slightly farther north and can produce some of the best surf in the area. The crowds eventually make their way to third peak. But early in the morning on an incoming tide you can still catch third peak with only a few surfers in the water. Almost unheard of for most popular breaks around the world. Peaks and sand bars abound north of 3rd peak for almost a mile or more certainly you can find a nice sand bar to surf alone if you are willing to walk for a while.
Almost a mile from first peak is Spanish house, known for it long hollow rights and lefts. Spanish house once a secret of local surfers named for the Spanish tiled house that is on the beach in front of the break. It now has International acclaim after several articles in popular surf publications. Well worth the mile walk from the inlet be sure to check out this world class wave. Certainly if you enjoy warm water and a fast hollow wave Sebastian Inlet is worth a visit. You will find waves an the Inlet almost any time of year!
