Where to Take Creative Writing Lessons in New York

Everyone has at one point in their life dreamed of creating the great American novel. Whether that is your goal, or if you want to take some lessons to improve your business writing skills, or just because it is something you want to do, there are great schools in New York that have some of the best lessons in creative writing. Find the one that fits your schedule. Many of them are evening classes and one of them will actually give you one on one instructions. In any case, you will connect with others who share your passion for the written word and make some friends who just might be your new inspiration.

No one has more creative writing lessons than the Gotham Writers Workshop. They have 10 and 6 week courses with lessons in very type of creative writing. They also have four week and one day workshops. They cover everything from children's book writing to stand up comedy writing and everything in between. Elizabeth Ayres Center for Creative Writing has a
Writing the Wave Workshop which has three lessons that teach you some of the mechanics of writing. It is also available on line. You can also get a one on one consultation. And they have other workshops etc.

The Cooper Union Continuing Education has creative writing lessons in the following courses Translating Poetry,
Introduction to Writing Poetry, Getting Started Writing Fiction and Business Writing. The classes all meet one evening a week for six or ten weeks so it is very possible to take more than one class at a time. Cooper Union is the oldest Adult Education Program in the country.
