Where to Take a First Date in Anacortes, Washington

Silly Puss
Got a first date coming up? Not sure where to go, what to do? Yet you do know you want to make the date perfect for the both of you. If you live in Skagit Valley Washington, particularly the small island area of Anacortes there is more to do than you probably realize. First things first, you need to know what kind of person you have chosen for a date, is he/she an active person? Is he/she a romantic at heart, or maybe you might prefer the normal movie and dinner routine to get things started. Any way you have it, there are many possibilities for a great date to be had on the island of Anacortes.

The Romantic Outing:Whale Watching Then A Picnic On The Beach

For a nice romantic day/evening take your date whale watching on one of the local tour boats. First things first make sure your date is not afraid of the water, or gets sea sick. If all is good then take your date on an island adventure whale watching tour. You can schedule your trip at 1801 Commercial Ave in Anacortes phone number is(800)465-4604 rates start at 59 dollars per person up to 99 dollars, it depends on the time of year it is. If booked on line a week ahead of time then you can save up to 20 dollars. They have a 97% rate of spotting whales, Orca, Humpback and Minke whales can all be spotted at one time or another on one of their tours. They offer on board snacks and small lunches while out on the water tour lasts five- eight hours. This is a really romantic setting right on the water as well as slightly adventurous so adrenaline might be up a little and that always raises libidos.

Once done with the boat tour it should be in the late afternoon hope you packed a nice picnic basket full of goodies and maybe even a bottle of wine. Take your date down to the beach at Rotary Park located on Market/ T Ave. It is a small walk from the car about five- eight minutes of walking. You do have to walk over a few wood logs to get to the beach itself. Once their find a nice spot and sit your picnic down, enjoy the view it is beautiful as the sun hit's the water and the boats go by, you might even see some sea lions which travel the area quite often. This is the perfect setting for a really romantic kiss so time it just right.

The Adventurous Date: Kayaking and a Hike on one of the Islands

OK, so you know you have a date with and active/adventurous person you don't want to bore them but again make sure they can swim and are not afraid of the water, life jackets and a day pack filled with snacks are needed for this date as well. Start this date of by renting a two person Kayak (make sure you have spent time in one before and now what you are doing first) you can rent a kayak and life jackets from Sea Kayak Shop Island Outfitters located on 2515 Commercial Ave, prices vary and you need to book in advance they also require you to take one class so they can make sure you know what you are doing.

You should start your date off into the water from Anacortes Marina located at 2415 T Ave in Anacortes, spend some time kayaking through the area before you stop off at your next stop which will be Hat Island. You will want to have it mapped out already though once you are in the kayak and on your way it should be easy to spot Hat island. The island is small itself but you can do some hiking there to find a nice spot and sit down and enjoy a nice snack or light lunch. It's a romantic date for the average to moderately active person.

Hat Island is not off limits to visitors, it is not occupied but is protected by the Department of Natural Resources so make sure you know when you can go and that the tide is right etc.. Bring along some binoculars and a camera there is wildlife to be seen, you might get to spot a Bald Eagle if you are lucky.

The Sure Bet Date: Dinner and a Movie

When it comes to the regular dinner and a movie routine you want to set the mood right by not going overboard in a romantic setting or being the complete opposite either. Make sure you check the times of the movies that are playing that night before you go out to dinner. The date mood should be set just right that's why I chose Randy's Pier 61 as the restaurant to start the evening located on 209 T Ave in Anacortes. It sits right on the water where you get a really spectacular view of the ocean and Guemes Island. If timed right you can watch the sunset while the last end of the sailboats sail on by.

The food is great a little pricey but good nonetheless. They have the usual menu that you would see anywhere else, steak, ribs etc.. however because this is set right on the water you can imagine the specialty is seafood. Prices start at 7.95 for a shrimp cocktail to 31.95 for their fillet mignon or 37.95 for their Alaskan crab legs. Once dinner is over if you timed it right there should be a couple movie's starting at the local cinema which is located on 415 O Ave in Anacortes Wa. Let the date choose the movie you are going to see. Enjoy the movie, share a kiss afterwords and then see.

Hopefully these gave you an idea of how and where to take a first date in Anacortes Washington. Remember to plan ahead and be in control of yourself, be calm yet ready for anything. First dates are important beginning impressions mean almost everything so relax and have a good time, be yourself but better. Happy Dating!
