Where to Take a First Date in Parkersburg, WV

3 Different Ideas for a First Date

J. Motes
Here are three ideas for places to take a first date in Parkersburg, WV. The dinner date is the most common first date so the list will start with two local restaurants. Outback, Red Lobster, and other chain restaurants are fine for a first date but they are too obvious to list.

River City Tavern and Grill

River City Tavern and Grill is located on Murdoch Avenue in Parkersburg. River City makes a good location for a first date. The restaurant features two distinct atmospheres. The 'Grill' side is a quiet restaurant where you can talk in privacy and relax. Expect each meal to cost about $20. After your meal you can head to the 'Tavern' side and have drinks. River City is also located fairly close to the mall if a movie is part of the date.

Spats at The Blennerhassett Hotel

Spats is the restaurant at The Blennerhassett Hotel located at the corner of Market and 4th Street. Offering both inside and patio dining, Spats is another good choice for a first date dinner. The food is great and the price is less than you might think at about $30 per dinner. The only drawback is that there isn't much to do in this part of town.

So there are two choices for places to have dinner but here is a different idea for a first date location in Parkersburg:

Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park

The primary downside of going to the island on a first date is that if things go poorly it is hard to get away from the other person! But if you have chosen well, the island provides a great atmosphere for a first date. The sternwheel boat ride to and from the island is unique and will give an opportunity for conversation while enjoying the fresh air. Note that the boats are only leaving from Belpre until Point Park is completed. Aside from the mansion tours you can enjoy a horse drawn wagon ride, go for a walk, sit quietly at the river's edge, or ride bikes. The island provides lots of room to be alone or activities that you will enjoy.
