The Parks & Recreation Department of upper Arlington has something to offer all of Central Ohio with its Lifelong Learning & Leisure programs. This center is by far the biggest adult education program in Central Ohio. Although it's classes are not for credit it offers more than 600 courses every year! Each class is available to the public and if you are a resident of Upper Arlington or work in Upper Arlington, you can get in for a discounted price. This is because they have already contributed some of their taxes to the center so they will get a 10% discount on all class fees. You can also get a discount if you are over the age of 60, you must bring proof of your birth date when you register for your class. The center charges these fees to fund its programs in many different areas including, enrichment, writing and language, self care and health, music and dance, fine art, crafts, home and garden, food and drink, money matters, computers, bridge, sports, and fitness. Their classes will show you how to manage your surroundings and give you the skills you need to further your love of learning.

Cosi is teaming up with the Lifelong Learning Center this spring to offer some very interesting new classes. These classes will include one of two surgical suites where a live video conference shows you a total knee replacement or open-heart surgery. The other class they are going to be presenting with Cosi is an in depth look at a taped 90-minute autopsy. These three classes only cost $21 dollars each to attend if you are a non-resident or only $19 if you are a resident. This price is available on many of their courses and they typically keep their classes under $100.

The center is located on 3600 Tremont Road in Upper Arlington, Ohio. You can reach them by phone (614)583-5333 or fax (614)457-6620 or via their website at www.ua-ohio.net. They are now registering for spring classes! You must be 18 years of age or older unless otherwise noted in the class description. They offer classes year round and distribute updated class programs every March, August and December. You can access their latest catalog of classes here at http://www.ua-ohio.net/parksrec/lifelong/classes.pdf. The best thing about the center would have to be their refund policy: if you feel you were not satisfied with your learning experience you will want to respond to them in writing with in five days of your last class. Make sure you check out their cancellation policies before you sign up, since they cannot refund classes missed because of family emergencies, work conflicts or changes that you made to your schedule.
