Where to Watch the Mavericks in the NBA Finals

Lisa Mason
The NBA Finals started on Tuesday, May 31, at 9 p.m. ET between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat. This is an interesting matchup because while I currently live in Texas and have called myself a Texan for the past 10 years, I am originally from Florida (born in Sarasota).

Since my team (the San Antonio Spurs) is out of the running, I had to pick a new team to root for in the NBA Finals. The season before last I coached a girls basketball team called the "Lady Mavs" and we sported Mavericks' colors. Plus, I've been impressed with some of their plays this season and very impressed with their postseason and I think they have a good shot at it.

So, once I determined the Mavs were going to be my team for the Finals, I had to determine a good place to watch the game. Texas sports fans get really worked up- I should know; I used to work in a sports bar. So I wanted a place where I could be in like company and really feel the heat of the game.

Here are my top three picks for where to watch the Mavericks in the NBA Finals:

Christie's Sports Bar & Deli
Ste 22, 2811 McKinney Avenue
Dallas, TX
214-954-1511
Christie's on Facebook Christie's really feels like "Cheers". There is such a friendly atmosphere and you can kick back and feel like you're watching the game with a group of friends- because you will be!

Christie's has 10 big screen plasma TVs and three projector screens inside. They also have four HD plasma TVs outside on their patio so you can see the game from anywhere in the bar. You don't have to worry about getting a good seat.

The menu is differnet from your typical pub food and you have great selection so there is guaranteed to be something for everyone. You can choose from pizzas, salads, steaks, sandwhiches, entrees and appetizers. There are not many places in Dallas where you can watch the big game and enjoy great food. Christie's is my top pick.

Full menu can be found online.

Frankie's Sports Bar
3227 McKinney Ave, Dallas, TX 75204
Frankie's on Facebook
Uptown Location

Next on the list is Frankie's Sports Bar. They were voted "Best Place to Watch the Super Bowl in Dallas." By D Magazine and for good reason. They are a fantastic location to watch the Finals. They atmosphere is just right and you will find ore than thirty HD plasma TVs.

This includes two 10' HDTV projection systems and two different patios with two 42" HD plasma TVs and wireless recievers right at your table so you don't miss any part of the game. Hear every call and see every play while enjoying a fun, upbeat atmosphere with other Mav fans.

Ten Sports Grill
1302 Main St, Dallas, TX 75202
Ten on Facebook

Still another option is Ten Sports Grill. They have 10 HDTVs and a 110" projection screen so you can see every minute of the big game. They even have online ordering if you want your food ready when you get there.

Interesting Fact: Ten Sports Grill is in the location that was once home to Monica Greene's Pegaso, owned by Chad Lewis the former strength and conditioning coach for the Dallas Mavericks. Pro athletes and other celebrities have been known to show up at Ten. Who knows who might make an appearance for the Finals.
