Fado Irish Pub
Fado is my favorite because I love the intimate atmosphere, the large selection of beer, and the food. If I leave the comfort of my home to watch the World Cup, I'll go to Fado. Did I mention the food? Sure, you'll get the usual American fare, but I go to Fado for Fish and Chips, Homemade Shepherd's Pie, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Bangers and Mash, and the All-Day Irish Breakfast. Choosing which dish to eat is never easy. Don't let the classy ambiance fool you. Sports fans at Fado can and do get wild and crazy. Fado is the place to go in Austin for international sports. Yes, we love our football in Texas, but for rugby, cricket, soccer and other sports popular in the rest of the world come to Fado and enjoy the game inside or outside on their patio. Fado is in downtown Austin at 4th and Lavaca. Free parking in downtown Austin is hit or miss, but there are plenty of pay parking lots.

Pluckers
Pluckers is wildly popular with large flat screens seemingly everywhere and a lively crowd both indoors and outdoors. At Pluckers you can enjoy watching the World Cup while eating their many flavors of chicken wings including Fire in the Hole, grabbing a drink (or lots of drinks and many pitchers of beer) at their fully stocked bar, and cheering on your team. Pluckers gets loud and crazy during football season so I can only imagine how it will be during the World Cup. You must finish your time at Pluckers with a fried Twinkie in honor of my mother-in-law who had one while visiting from South Africa and pronounced it bliss. She was right. I've spent a lot of time at Pluckers first and last - get there early if you want to watch the World Cup from a table and party on! Pluckers has five Austin area locations.
