Where Were You when 9/11 was Happening?

Bear in mind that I have my mornings when people in NY are having an evening - and visi versae. My time zone is 12 hours in front of NY. So when I refer to evening I was having an evening when people in NY were having their (previous) morning. I hope that is as clear as mud LOL.

That evening a dear friend was round for dinner - and I saw the spirit of the 'grim reaper' in my lounge-room. I told my friend and we mused over why this might be happening. Then shortly after that I saw Nostradamus in the room as well. It sure was getting busy in my lounge-room!

As I went to the loo I turned on the TV for some inexplicable reason. Generally I never mix TV with my social life. At first I thought I was watching a riveting movie. Very realistic movie I thought. It took a while to dawn on me that it could possibly be true.
Anyways - I didn't sleep much that night and stayed glued to the tele. I wondered if it might be the end of the world so I rang up a few close people.

I got up to go to work the next morning, having had very little sleep, at 5am per usual. Life felt real weird. It was a 50 mile plus drive to work - firstly through the city suburbs - then on out through the foothills - over the scarp and into the bush.
I stopped to get a drink in the roadhouse at the bottom of the hill. I noticed 'red fluid' had leaked out of my car. Yes - the gearbox broke! I was worried about getting to work. I rang my friend and he offered to drive me. It was like a 120 mile+ deviation for him. He was a trainee psychiatrist at the time. We talked about what kind of a working day both of us might have; being that we both worked in unusual environments, with potentially unhinged people.

I left the car at the roadhouse - and told them I would arrange a tow later - after finishing work. As I drove through the hills I noticed a huge, white judurrah cursing very quickly through the land*.
Being in that prison as 9-11 was happening was absolutely surreal. Everyone (staff, volunteers and inmates) were glued to the TV; and there was a great expectation that the world might end at any minute. To be in there with hundreds of societies' naughty boys all thinking they were about to die and all of them wondering and thinking about redemption etc was a way strange thing.
All the jail ministers/pastors held services that got maximum attendance. Most of the boys attended every one of them. Well - just nearly everyone went. Getting through that day took intense focus. There was completely nothing normal about that day.

After work I then had to figure out where to go next.
I mean - this jail is right in the middle of nowhere - no public transport etc. I eventually went home with a colleague - with whom I stayed on all my working days until the gearbox fix was paid for (6 weeks).
On the way to her place that judurrah was still racing and cursing through the land - gobbling up negativity and working to neutralize aggression*.

*The white judurrah is a very large serpent that only appears in dire moments. It neutralizes aggression - to bring peace. It is the serpent of peace (aboriginal story).

Where were you on 9-11?

Definitely a goosebump-raising story for me.
