I'll go into a little more detail but will do it in a way that I won't reveal too much of the storyline's plot or magic. This is certainly a movie that's visually appealing that I haven't seen in quite some time, it's beautifully done. The director of the movie Spike Jonze filmed this whole movie in Australia. We got all of the great feel for the deserts, the lush forests and the wonderful shoreline's of the beach, it all comes together as if it were a Lord Of The Rings experience made film. It's also quite magnificent in how beautifully done the special effects were for the monsters.
I also enjoy how Spike Jonze gave all of the monsters a unique and complementary voice for each one of the seven monsters. The actors that voiced the monsters were an all star cast they included Forrest Whitaker, James Gandolfini, Lauren Ambrose, Catherine O'Hara, Chris Cooper and Paul Dano. They all had their very own unique personas in which helped to compliment both of their emotional and or physical traits. And how all of the monsters had a set of unique features and how huge the monsters were, they were like eight to ten feet tall, nicely done on designing the monster costumes. The way in which they wrote this movie was spectacular, it made it that much easier for both children and adults to comprehend. I also loved in how they portrayed just how difficult it can be for a child or particularly Max in the movie to face in their everyday lives like fear, feeling unwanted, or just loneliness in general.
Besides the monsters, I was quite impressed in how well Max Records was able to play his role in the movie as Max. He seemed like he was basically told to act in this movie as a kid and that's exactly what he did, it might sound really simplistic, but it's very easy to mess this up. I wonder exactly how much play the director Spike Jonze gave Max Records in the movie in which he goes crazy in several occasions. I can only imagine just how difficult it can be to direct child actors, but when you come across a talented one it can pay for some dividends.
There's just so many things to love about Where the Wild Things Are. Before you decide to rent this movie for your entire family to watch, pay attention to some of the warnings you should take into consideration. There are some parts in the movie that just maybe a little bit too much for children, in particular scenes the monsters can be a little to over the top. Although these monsters are supposed to be friendly, however their monster and monsters do what they do best which is to be scary, mean and very big. This movie will certainly entertain you and send you into the wilderness and take you into the time where you were once the kid with a vivid imagination. This movie is indeed a must watch movie, it gets two thumbs up by me for the movies shear genius. I truly appreciate the individuals that have taken time out of their day to read this review I am certainly thankful for that.
