If your Thanksgiving plans will take you outside the U.S., or if you want to make a special trip to an international destination for Thanksgiving, here are my top four choices for places to enjoy a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner around the world:
Harry's New York Bar, Paris, FranceThis year is the 100th anniversary of when American jockey Tod Sloan first opened the place and hired a Scot named Harry MacElhone as bartender. It became a favorite of American soldiers both in World War I and II. In the Roaring 20s, Harry's customers included F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Heminghway, Jack Dempsey, Knute Rockne and many of the Hollywood stars of the era.
Continuing to cater to its American ex-patriots in Paris, Harry's lays out an annual Thanksgiving feast of the traditional bourbon roast turkey, yams, cranberries, pecan pie and all the trimmings. Thanksgiving dinner is $75 per person, including a glass of wine

The Orchard, Beijing, China
We were there two years ago on a tour of the capital city and the Great Wall of China. This quaint restaurant is set in a fruit and vegetable patch surrounded by apple trees. Many of the dishes contain just-picked fresh ingredients from the gardens.
We enjoyed the menu, which offered both traditional Chinese specialties and Mediterranean dishes. The manager is from Israel, and the chef is a local expert named He Delee. With that management combination, visitors from many parts of the world can find a great variety of favorite dishes at The Orchard. As a convenience to American tourists and business travelers at this season, The Orchard offers a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The dishes include roast turkey, stuffing and all classic trimmings for $32 per person.

Beacon Restaurant - Tokyo
Beacon is a hip, upscale chop house in the heart of Tokyo's Shibuya district. The restaurant is well-known for the their great food and fun atmosphere, but also for their yearly Thanksgiving dinner, served this year only on Thursday, November 24.
Dinner starts with fresh Atlantic lobster chowder with shiitake mushrooms. Then roasted beets, goat cheese and crispy duck bacon salad with hazelnut dressing. Next up is roast turkey with apple, chestnut and sausage stuffing, cranberry and persimmon relish. If all that wasn't enough, they also include sides of sauteed brussel sprouts with pancetta, creamed cauliflower and pearl onion gratin, whipped canided yam puree and toasted pecans. Dessert is spiced pumpkin cheesecake with pumpkin gelato. The price is $109 per person and it's served from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. This is very popular with ex-pats in Tokyo so be sure to make reservations as soon as possible.

Planet Hollywood - London
We were in London last year over the Christmas holiday, and when we asked around for the best place serving American food, we were advised to head over to Planet Hollywood. If you're in London for Thanksgiving this year, and really feel the need for an American meal for the holiday, swing by Piccadilly Circus to Planet Hollywood. This trendy cafe and bar is serving a traditional Thanksgiving menu of turkey with all the trimmings.
Also, if you plan to take in a play or musical after dinner, you'll find the West End theater district just steps away. Price for dinner is $40 per person with a glass of house wine
