Which # 1 Seed Will Falter in the 2010 NCAA Tournament?

JM Van Horn
Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse and Kansas are the No. 1 seeds in the 2010 NCAA tournament. While recent history shows a positive trend for the top seeds, the odds are at least one of them will falter and not reach the 2010 Final Four.

On the surface, the Duke Blue Devils appear to have the easiest road to the Final Four thanks to the inexperience and injuries the other top teams have suffered.

The Syracuse Orange's success in reaching the 2010 Final Four will be determined by the health of center Arinze Onuaku. If he is anything less than 90 percent, the Orange might run into a road block in the West Region.

The Kansas Jayhawks have the privilege of being named the No. 1 seed overall and will have a bit of a challenge in the Midwest region. The Jayhawks should be able to reach the 2010 Final Four if they can advance past Big Ten teams Ohio State and Michigan State.

That leaves us with the remaining No. 1 seed from the 2010 NCAA tournament -- the Kentucky Wildcats.

Though the Wildcats have one of the top players in the country, John Wall, there is something we need to remember: Both Wall and DeMarcus Cousins are freshman.

Even though they have loads of talent and will be high NBA draft picks, these two may not be to the point where they can carry a team to the 2010 Final Four.

The Wildcats had the misfortune of being placed in the East Region with the best No. 2 seed in the tournament, West Virginia. Before they can face off against the Mountaineers, the Wildcats may be taking on the Texas Longhorns in the second round.

Yes, that's the same Longhorns who were ranked No. 1 in the country earlier in the season. While the team has underachieved during the latter part of the season, the team is talented enough to take the Wildcats head on.

If they can make it to the Sweet Sixteen, the Wildcats have the chance to take either on a vastly underrated Cornell team or Wisconsin. Both teams have their share of big man and could provide match up problems if they are on their game.

In the end, No. 1 seed Kentucky Wildcats will not have enough and falter in the East Region. They will find themselves at home watching the final rounds of the 2010 NCAA tournament.

Thanks for the spotlight. The Dukies maybe tired, but heck they have an easy road to the Final Four. The only one I would say is a lock is Kansas for sure.

Duke's players are worn out from playing too much. The bench hardly plays. Duke will stall out in the sweet 16.
